Getting Diamond is anticlimactic

I spent more than 4 years playing this game, learning and meeting new people that have helped and entertained me vastly, however When i started playing i immediately fell in love with the community. Even though sometimes you guys are trash talkers, so am I, and out right racists i still enjoyed the commitment people have brought to the them as well as changes and even bringing league of legends into the esports scene and dominating it which i have watched countless hours over the years. Today i reached diamond and after spending 4 years playing league of legends to get this far i don't feel achieved. I feel completely the same with no changes really. Yes, sure some friends congratulated me but there was nothing i was truly happy about. The last few games were easy and the struggles are there but in the end it did feel anticlimactic. I was expecting 4 years of time to be summed up in a universal celebration. I did get a neat animation though.

I think the key term is "game" here.

What if chess or basket ball or soccer in the future were tracked by elo by some mystical Google camera and had tier ratings on a scale of bronze to diamond/challenger, and when you won enough matches and displayed enough skill, the Google gods sent you a peculiar little animation of your little gold chess piece or basketball or soccer ranking badge transforming from gold to diamond, would that make you happy?

The game is basically a perpetual grind if you play it for rank. (That's why Destiny sucks, don't buy it.) Grinding is not fun.

I didn't grind for rank this season because I had nothing but trolls and afk's nonstop for like... every game. It wasn't worth it. All I wanted was what? The pretty borders and the Victorious skin. I was gonna stop at gold. Sure enough, the awards are announced and I look at them last week and I'm like "That border ain't all that awesome. Challenger is nice, but f*** that. Not worth the effort. O M G, that Morgana skin looks awful. Thank GOD I didn't grind for that."

Not saying you don't enjoy the game, but always make sure when you open the client, are you playing because you want something? Or because you genuinely want to play for fun? One's healthy, the other isn't. Cuz like the OP says, the reward is usually anti-climatic, especially if you're not enjoying yourself.
