Can I get a rioter to explain why autofill is deemed a good enough idea to keep in the game? Getting really, really tired of every otehr game being an autofill. I do NOT care if I have to wait through 9 queues to play the game, if I dont want to play jungle, why in God's name should I be forced to do so?
DrCyanide1 votesThey tried not having Auto Fill at first. It basically killed the players that treated Fill like it was quasi-random, since it always gave them Support. They stopped putting Fill, which made the problem worse, and it started to get to 30 minute queue times or more the higher up the ladder you went.
So Auto Fill was born. You're more likely to get your Role than you were before the New Champ Select, but you've got a chance that you'll be asked to do something else.

Autofill at high elo ok.
Autofill at low elo is dumb AF.
It's pretty much that simple and pretty much simple to apply.
Riot makes things more difficult then they need to be.
Strigina2 votesI don't know what is low elo for you but I started the S6 (the one with new select) in silver and queues there were up to 20 minutes long because no one wanted to play support. And people who picked support as secondary role had zero chance of getting their primary one which caused lot of them to stop using support as one of their roles...which again made queues even longer.
As someone who likes to use support as my secondary role sometimes I am really happy with autofill because it gives me huge chance to play my primary role (mid).
