Can somebody explain to me the exhaust nerf?

I get that getting rid of the reduction of resistances makes sense because it is supposed to be a defensive item, but losing the attack speed reduction seems to defeat that purpose. It just seems like a nerf to defensive supports and a buff to the already strong mage supports who like to run ignite. Thoughts?

Cause it was overloaded as hell. They couldve nerfed it in other ways but this 1 felt to be the most appropriate. It wasn't just 40% dmg reduction vs ADCs, it was more because they had very little attack speed as well. At least now they can at least kite a little bit while being exhausted instead of being useless half the fight.

Not to mention exhaust was being taken top mid and sup (sometimes jg on certain champs) It was much needed.

They want support mains to quit the game so everybody has to be autofilled.

Autofill is love. Autofill is life.

Because it was doubly effective against aa based champs compared to caster based champs.

idk maybe because 40% Damage reduction per point and click are already OP enough?

Well, you are coming at this from a fundamentally mistaken angle. It has next to nothing to do with bot lane and mage supports and defensive supports. It is NOT "supposed to be" a defensive spell and it was given the resistance reduction explicitly to increase it's offensive ability. This part of the ability was removed to nerf it for the reason for nerfs: Because it was too good at it. It was too good offensively, such as in top lane.
