Tanks and their Balance

Once again I come to the boards questioning why in the hell I can spend all my money on Health and armor and do more damage than those spending their money on damage items. If I have 4000 health and im fighting a non tank, I do WAYYY more damage than them if they are like a mid laner or an adc (support is understandable). I don't understand how anyone could find it fair that someone spending their money on health can do more damage than someone spending their money on damage.(ex. poppy, garen, darius,etc). Someone please give me a plausible explanation as to why this is... Thank you.

i guess they seem squishy

I'm not going to justify why tanks seemingly do more damage than people who need to build pure damage, but it only seems likes they do more damage because you're still squishy, plus the scalings of someone like Volibear allow him to build HP which makes his skills do more damage. When dueling him hes really bulky and can still 100-0 you because you're still squishy.

So by that logic EVERYONE should have 3k health to avoid being 1 shot by tanks.. but that makes the game so boring because then NOONE dies...

Yes but that still begs the question is that fair, when i cant finish off a poppy that would take 2 basics as trist to kill and i cant because e -> wall -> Q dead and im at full health.

What are tanks?

What are adc?

what are mages?

if a tank can assasinate an adc Poppy Pantheon , a mage can tank damage for days and not give a fuck Galio Blitzcrank , an adc can ult a fight and walk away MissFortune and do "good" (win)
