Why is smurfing generally accepted, while boosting is frowned upon?

In the end, both hurt the game in the exact same way.

In smurfing, the diamond+ player enters a bronze/silver/gold game and completely rolls face to victory, unfairly causing certain players to lose mmr because they don't stand a chance against a fucking diamond 1 smurf.

In boosting, the end result is a player who belongs in bronze/silver/gold imbalancing matches in plat+, unfairly causing teams to lose mmr because they have a massive handicap in the form of a boosted teammate.

Why is it that one of these is looked down upon more so than the other? I've heard of people complaining about smurfing, but generally speaking the hatred for smurfs is typically less than for boosted players.

Because there's fuck-all we can do to stop smurfing from happening.

Smurfing isn't generally accepted. Smurfs are game ruining pieces of shit.

Well what happens after.

A diamond smurf ending up in diamond. Okay.

A bronze in diamond. Welp lol.

Smurfing is ok because it's your own account.

Because smurf they will often carry more games and climb faster so you don't get to play against/with them often.

Boosted monkeys tend to stay around longer because sometimes they get lucky and get hard carried by their team and stick around longer. They also didn't work for their rank and will trash talk the team for being "bad".

At least that's what i think anyway.

It isn't anything that is mentioned.

Smurfing is okay, but as soon as there is payment involved Riot intervene.

If you log onto someone elses account for and boost it for free, Riot still intervene because account sharing is against ToS.

It is a security concern, they would rather not deal with the "waah my account is hacked cause I gave away my login details."

I created a smurf to be a Taric only profile and help anyone who is inexperienced get better at the game as best as I can. If I happen to get a good ADC it is just a crush fest in bottom lane but I give the enemy pointers if they are willing to listen. Not all smurfing is bad. It makes new player learn the game quicker. Can you imagine how long it would take 10 fresh people playing with only each other to learn the game?

Even if a smurf isn't helpful by giving advice, they can still be watched and their build paths can be seen.

You don't know how bad smurfing can be unless if you have played CSGO at a gold nova elo all because Valve cares about money than making CSGO actually playable.
