What is your favorite champion, lore/aesthetics-wise, and why?

Mine is a tie between Teemo and Kennen .

Teemo because he's cute, and Kennen because his electric attacks and ninja agility make me feel powerful when playing him, especially during a successful ultimate engage.

Jhin, such a perfect voice acting, personality and kit makes him fun to play even when you're not having a great game. His lines and music make for a very thematic experience, and when im against jhin i just love it when he talks out of no where when i step on one of his traps.

I would say MonkeyKing, but the strength of his Lore/Aesthetic is all in his potential lore right now. Who knows what Riot is planning to do with him, but there is a lot they can do with him if they do his lore right. But that can't count since there really isn't much in his real lore right now to work with. So I would have to say it's between Jhin and Taric for me. Jhin really brings home the "artistic killer" aesthetic and his ideal of perfection through death. On the other hand, we have Taric who is practically the exact opposite. He is all about the beauty of life and will give everything he has to protect it, even fight two armies to save one flower. In a way, these two are two sides of the same coin. Could be interesting if they had a rivalry in the future.

Probably Kindred. I love the way Riot went about creating the way death is perceived in their universe. Also, the story "A Good Death*" was really well written, imo. It's also fun speculating on which mask would take Olaf†.

Lore/aesthetic wise? Tough call because there's many amazing contenders.

For me, I have to go with Sion. The idea of an undead warrior who was once a monstrous general in life but now struggles to even try to be human while existing as a monster is tricky, but he pulls it off SO WELL. The different VO lines for when he's in and out of combat, the slow moving but devastating kit, the overall look and feel of him is amazing. And his lore, JEEZ its good. That short story is the fucking best. I wish there was a long bio to tell the proper history of one of the greatest heroes of Noxus.

Also, one of his ult lines goes as follows:

Sion "NOXUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSS" Sion

This line, in all its patriotic, guttural, ear pounding glory made me root for Noxus for the first time in...well ever. It's just one word, but delivered with such intensity, passion and HEART EXPLODING RAGE that I just smile whenever I hear it.

I'm torn between my two ex-mains, Urgot and Khazix , and Viktor . Urgot because of his older lore. If you find the league judgement, it kind've made me empathetic to what happened to him. Kha'Zix because his otherworldly assassin thematic was done very well, though I'm waiting for his flavor text to come out when the Void gets its update. Viktor because I can feel empathetic to his cause, and what he stands for. His theme is done very well also.

Fondling Gems8/21/2016, 10:19:10 AM3 votes

Taric. Not for any actual reason, but because back in my day (and still somewhat today) Taric was seeing Yorick levels of play and no one took him seriously because he was a walking gay joke. He was honestly just the best champion to play if you wanted to make others laugh, hence why i main him. Unfortunately since his rework he is actually taken seriously now so there is a lot less Taric humor floating around. part of why I don't actually play him much these days although I am a Taric main in concept.... and IRL

Lore/Aesthetic wise? Swain. I love how he is some brilliant commander who just wades into the fray when needed and decimates everyone in his path. Plus he REALLY reminds me of Sand dan Glokta from the First Law trilogy, probably one of if not my favourite character in any medium.

MavenSong8/21/2016, 11:42:55 AM2 votes

Im a sucker for Ahri 's lore... i just feel bad for her. Wanting to be human so much but only to realize you are becoming a monster.

Aesthetic? AurelionSol Wherever he is is the fashionable part of the universe

Lore? Viktor His flavor text needs updated, but how the community perceives him and how extremely different he is perceived in the canon is so interesting. His boards presence really makes me want Viktor to get some sort of antihero skin. Or any skin tbh lol.

Bard is pretty dope in game, lore is aiht but could be better imho because Rito didn't really give us much but his in game bio and his animation.

Lore wise... hmmm Either Poppy or Liss. I love the Three Sisters but Poppy has really cool, inspirational lore. Poppy looks sick in game too, almost a Dinsey character.

Warlord Dienekes8/21/2016, 7:40:11 PM1 votes

Aesthetic is easy, Pantheon. Workable armor, the shield is a bit too thick, but that's to be expected when trying to make things designed from a distant perspective in a video game. Spears and shields are awesome. Hoplites are an interesting ancient soldier that you don't see too often in video games, mostly they either go vaguely "medieval" European or Japanese. The dialogue choice is also interesting, as I think, almost accidentally they managed to capture the ancient Greek concept of "arete" and how it differs from every other champion who talks about "honor" such as Garen. Hell, when he gets his VGU if they just make him look more proportional, maybe give him actual pteruges instead of that silly diaper thing (which thankfully in game you can't really see) I will be a very happy man.

Absolutely hate his lore though.

Favorite lore? Well, the characters I'm most interested in: Garen, Darius, Swain don't really have their lore yet. And I freely admit that my interest in them is entirely based off of what their lore seems to be setting them up rather than anything in their lore they've actually done. I enjoy stories about soldiers, generals, and your regular everyday badass who exists in a fantasy world and finds a way to deal with these finger wiggling mages with only their wits and their sword. And while Swain is one of those mages, I basically have him in my mind that he's Grand Admiral Thrawn. I know he's not. I know when they write him, eventually, his tactics are going to be all about his magic and using weird rituals to rise to the top of Noxus or whatever. But still, as of now, in my head, he's Thrawn the Noxian and that is the most badass thing.

Best lore for champions who actually have their lore? Probably Sion. His lore when he was just an awesome warrior is frankly top notch. And while I usually dislike the moment in stories where they take an interesting character and then suddenly saddle them with magical bullshittery it actually really works well for him. It was not given at the end of his lore negating or surpassing everything he's done up to that point (like every damn Targon champion) instead it's about how that magic is actually pretty bad and the soul of the former great man is rebelling against it.

Jhin Riot completely sold me on this champion. His characterization is amazing. I love how meticulous and intricate he is. I love that he knows he's a monster but can't stop. The voice acting is superb. The sassiness in his taunts are great too. I firmly believe that Riot can not create a more interesting champion than Jhin.

Here's to hoping the face and past reveal is also 4/4 perfect.

Lore wise, aatrox. I mean he's a bloodgod that turns battle around, what's not to love? His skins are decent and all, but his gameplay is a bit lackluster.

Creene8/24/2016, 3:46:07 AM1 votes

Definitely Orianna

Her lore (while outdated) is just so interesting and incredibly tragic that I'm so drawn to her. The Orianna before was a young, wide eyed dancer from Piltover who became so fascinated with the League, who worked so hard in order to become like one of those champions that she so admired. She had a promising future, with a loving father and a dream she chased wholeheartedly, but it was all cut tragically short with her death. And there is just something so heartbreaking about her father working tirelessly to revive his once-shining golden girl, only to "fail" and have her be seen as unsettling by those around her. It's so bittersweet that he sees her as his perfect daughter, as even though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Corin Reveck's mental state did decay with Orianna's passing.

AND. I'M JUST. THE FACT THAT SHE TRIES. She tries to interact with other people but they shun her, treat her as if she is some sort of abomination. And I suppose she would be conventionally thought of as such, with the things she says, but she's the product of something out of her control, and I just... asdfadjjj

And design wise she's!!! She's so good. The clockwork aesthetic is always so great. And I love the large windup key on her back... Her design overall is so amazing and I give major props to whoever came up with it!!! AND NOT ONLY DOES SHE HAVE A CLOCKWORK THEME, but she also a dancer!!! something that really translates in her movement and is just so nice to see.... The image that Orianna gives off is almost of a doll being wound up to perform, her movements graceful, mesmerizing, but her dance, hollow. Its something so bittersweet that I just.. get so filled with emotion thinking about her...

Not to mention that her kit is so unique and versatile, and I always have a good time when I play her!!

Ahh this is long and I feel like I haven't really articulated well enough the feelings that I have, but just know that I LOVE ORIANNA AND SHE IS MY DAUGHTER

Fuh Queue8/24/2016, 5:58:36 PM1 votes

I have to say Varus. When I was climbing out of bronze with him in season 3, I played him so much. I love the voice lines when he would say "the guilty will know agony" and such.

Also a close second is nocturne. I just love how he interacts with the summoner, and basically talking shit to you the whole time "do I scare you, summoner?" "Are you my nightmare, or am I yours?" Then when he ults, his voice line where he says "all alone" sends shivers down my spine. I love nocturne.

Azir all the way.

His thematic is beyond awesome, his cinematics never fail to give me chills, especially his ascension, and the fact that his first thought upon revival wasn't about empires or thrones but saving Sivir. He's the Emperor of the Freaking Sands but he has a heart of warm sand.

So everything non gameplay?

I would say Sol and kled. Rich personalities and Sol's animations are fkn god tier.

New taric is also really stunning.

I also like bards peaceful and fun playstyle.

Talia is the opposite her lore and asthetics are the worst for any new champion, but she's fun to play Just wish I could mute her voice it's so fkn bland and boring. I'll throw another rock at you if you don't stfu Talia

Fiora Her kit fits her lore of being a duelist so well. That and it's extremely fun playing her mark minigame.

I have an infatuation with Poppy.

I love her determination and persistence in her quest to find the hero.

I love the fact that she has doubts of herself. She doesn't feel that she's worthy of being the keeper let alone the possibility of being the hero of herself. In her own mind, she's not good enough for anything and that she's next to useless. Despite this, she refuses to give up or let herself fail. If people are in danger, even if the threat is great and dire, she will hold her ground and stand there as a brick wall.

That, and she's adoraballs.

In-game aesthetic is Galio, because his voiceover is awesome. Same goes for Old Nasus. And for Taric, of course. Lorewise i really like Poppy.

Bhagswag8/21/2016, 11:50:59 AM1 votes

Diana. I'd marry that.

Fasmodey8/21/2016, 2:55:59 PM1 votes

Lore wise it is of course Xerath, no question.

I would apart aesthetics to 2 pieces, gameplay appereance and actual appereance (lore appereance, aka splash arts).

Gameplay appereance AurelionSol (he is super new champion and has much more quality. With same quality I would say Xerath would be much better)

Actual Appereance Xerath

But there are so much cool champions I would say even winners make it slightly.
