It seems the overwhelming consensus of the boards is that the new system sucks, but I can't be the only one who finds it to be a step in the right direction...right? I mean, we've gotten what we wanted: free runes and a way to unlock content previously hidden by a paywall. I understand that people like earning every game but to me, it's much more satisfying leveling up and getting a bigger return.

The vast majority does not care and is getting on with things.

Out of the 20 IRL friends I have who I played with on a fairly regular basis, 60% have quit playing and started searching for other games to spend hard earned time and money on. Now its just 6 or 7 of us left and we are all very jaded. One of the best things about the old rune system was being able to stack whatever you needed before you launched. The new reward system and new runes have turned the game into a 5min snowball fest with crappy rewards.
Tanks and specific utility heroes have been shafted. Our ability to grind IP/BE to unlock champs has been shafted. Its fine for you if you're still having fun and all, however there a lot of people who have now been psychologically turned off from the game. Part of its old majesty was the customization and the grind. Now that the rewards feel sour, people are going to stop playing long term and only get on for short bursts of play.

Hidden paywall content???? You mean the 50,000 gemstone or the 150,000 Urfwick. Yea those are definitely unlocked. Nothing got unlocked by this update. We get more capsules (seriously I never get honor capsules anymore), but that isn't new or hidden content. It is just accelerated slightly at the cost of something else.
It definitely isn't satisfying to me personally. 4 days, I got one shard. =\ that sucks Riot. YES, the one shard was worth more IP than 4 days otherwise would have been. But it still isn't a satisfying drop. At the same time, you have to look at the negatives. You are rewarded less from playing for long periods (popular complaint). AND the level grind will take longer and longer as you get higher, but the reward stays the same! So instead of 4 days for one shard, 8 or 10 or 15 days!!
Unlike MagicLlama. I am accepting, but I completely see why people are complaining. He is also not very mature if he is making fun of others.
J4 Ulted Mexico1 votesI mean, we were refunded a lot of BE for the runes and pages that we spent IP on. I don't know about you, but I was given over 50k~, and I bought way too many chromas that you can get for BE. I just don't get how you can be unsatisfied when you net more under the new system than if you were under the old, maybe I just really like leveling up. The only point I really have to concede on are the long-term effects, I can definitely see that becoming frustrating at higher levels, but it all depends on how the experience required to level-up increases.
MysterQ2 votesThe only Chromas I saw were for Meowkai and MooCowAlistar, I didn't see any others. Even if I did see them, I need my BE for champs not accessories. Of course, if you have lots of spare BE then it is nice for you. BUT they had chroma IP sales in the past, so it isn't a new feature.
The level up just doesn't feel good. They took away (or replaced) one system for another, but that feels bad losing stuff. Especially when you consider long term is the thing WE HAVE to be worried about. Don't get distracted by an extra 100BE now, when later on it might be terrible.
And for people who play often, it does suck slightly probably.
