Thematic Issues With Champions
Okay, guys, let's think about this from an objective standpoint. If you are a main of one of these champions, then you're probably gonna do this wrong, but try to think with logic and reason, and not with "OMG HE'S CRITICIZING MY MAIN OMG TRIGGERED." Got that?
Many champions have lots of thematic issues that should be changed in some way.
Fig. 1:Yasuo
Yasuo is supposed to be a wandering warrior/ronin that has mastered the wind and is an exile. My two main issues with him thematically are his Wind Wall and his passive. First of all, he's surprisingly tanky for being based on the wind, due these abilities. Think about it this way: is the wind defensive? No. Wind isn't very solid at all. Instead, wind-based heroes/warriors/swordsmen/mercenaries are skilled and able to dodge whatever is coming at them. The Wind Wall should therefore be replaced with something like dodging or even reflecting projectiles like Overwatch's Genji. This serves pretty much the same purpose, but suits him much more in terms of design. I also like the passive's idea of moving around and "wandering," but it should be replaced with another thing that doesn't suit a tank, like a Luden's Echo-like passive,
with an emphasis on power and agility rather than defense.
Fig. 2: Riven
My issue with Riven is much less than it is with Yasuo. It's just that since her abilities are "runic" and charge her blade with power, why doesn't she use mana or energy? If Riven wants to be free of a resource, then they should at least reword her abilities to make them more apt.
Thank you for reading my post, and keep in mind this isn't to hurt these champions. I have no problem with Riven, and I have been quite satisfied with Yasuo's past nerfs. Also keep in mind that these champions aren't the only offenders of this thematic problem, they are just two examples. If you have any other suggestions, leave them below!
