Have you tried slowing them first?

No. Just no. Literally the only counterplay against Swain that you have right now is staying out of his range aka dodging his W. If you make it impossible to miss, he is gonna be broken as heck. Not to mention you can have a reasonable hitrate with the current delay, too. You just have to know when and where to cast it (hint: its when they go for a last hit). Also it has incredibly useful zoning potential even without the snare itself.

How about no. Some champions have trouble getting away from it already. What you want to have done will make it impossible.

Do you not know what balance is? Do you know how broken he WILL become? The only way this can even become viable is if they lower the duration or make it snare faster as you level it. But now you have to choose, level E first or W?

I just get aggravated when I'm playing as swain vs a mid ekko.

Ekko's W has a much bigger radius, can be cast from farther away, and yet the final drop location is visible to the opponent for similar amounts of time.

His W is an entire slowing field that lasts long enough for him to dash into it to turn the slow into a STUN, and grants a giant shield in the process, while Swain's can only root, which still allows the trapped foe to fight back.

I'm not saying that Swain should be granted a shield on W, since he has his own awesome sustain potential at level 6+, but i hate playing against an Ekko's W and feeling so outdated :/

At least consider turning the root into a stun.
