Thoughts on Tank itemization changed (On PBE

**Gargoyle Stoneplate: **

First off, that icon is hilarious. Secondly, Riot might need to be careful about this one in the future. The downside of reducing your own damage means this is WAY more appealing to the supportive tanks such as Wardens and Vanguards, while being less useful on champions who built tanky but still do damage such as Juggernauts and some Divers. This is not inherently bad, but Riot needs to make sure that this item remains niche enough that tanginess is NOT balanced around this item. Otherwise, Juggernauts may become hard to balance.

**Adaptive Helm: **

Great concept, but could use some better execution. This is clearly meant as a means to counter magic in long, drawn out fights. But it may end up being a very big middle finger to DOT champs in particular (Due to how the damage reduction would reduce all but the first tick). Perhaps shifting it to something that ramps up similarly to battle trance can fix this.

**Abyssal Scepter: **

I have absolutely no idea what the point of this even is. Abyssal Scepter has a very solid identity as a mixed bag of durability and ap damage, in a similar vein to items like item 3156 and item 3071 for AD champs . Every single past sweep of itemization changes (Both AP Item sweeps, the changes around the Juggernaut Rework, AD rework in S6) has focused on sharpening an EXISTING identity for an item, which this is not doing at all. It is unclear what Riot is even trying to do with this, or why.

**Banshee's Veil: **

The stats were swapped with Abyssal, and it has the exact same problem with Abyssal's stats as Abyssal does with Banshee's stats. Granted Banshee's has been neglected for a long time, but really that was only since its stats were significantly changed (When item 3065 and item 3102 got their stats differentiated). This however is a significant departure from its original "I want to block a specific cc" identity (Though not as bad a departure as item 3001 ). Also, an 8 second cool down (Even at lv18) is hilariously crazy. Not only is it crazy against CC in general, but absolutely cripples some champs combat patterns. Singed for example would need to wait 10 seconds any time he wanted to fling somebody, since theres no way the shield won't be up at the start of a fight.

**Everything else in the pbe notes: **

Actually very darn good. From the Doran's shield change to giving Warmog's another try, it shows the kind of clever gameplay philosophy that Riot is skilled at employing. I wish Last Whisperer was addressed (It's the reason getting tanks to scale is so hard right now), and the MR might screw with AP champs, but those are probably minor problems in the grand scheme of things.

They are definitely nerfing late game tanks but also given them a window to tank 2x more than normal

They are also trying to nudge tanks into a support like role. Less effective in 1v1 situations

I would wait until they release the armor penetration changes that they are looking at currently before judging it completely. It might actually make late game tanks live longer but do less damage.
