Someone in one of my games said that MMR is ELO

Granted he was being toxic that whole game also.

But Is it really ELO?? I don't think it is.. Especially in a normal game

Yes it is....but normal elo/mmr is different from ranked elo/mmr.

Elo hasn't existed since season 2, but yes MMR serves a similar function of elo since they are both ratings which determine matchmaking. Normal and ranked matchmaking uses different MMR as well.

Yes, MMR is same as ELO. They both represent the same thing, however, it is hidden from players. Third party sites give you an approximate estimate to your MMR. In addition, you have a seperate MMR for both Normal and Ranked queues.
