A Blackhole should've been Aurelion Sol's Ult

I don't think i'm the only who thinks this fits well with his kit and very lore-friendly considering the fact that when a massive star dies a black hole forms after its death.

What do you think?

but even neutron stars are produced depends on the mass.

SO how about an ult that aurelion charges up before releasing depending on the mass it's abilities and power will differ

Well, lore wise it might be okay but in gameplay a black hole would have to be an ult that basically sucks enemies in and deals damage to them (think Zagara's Devouring Maw). Aurelion's ult is the way it is so they can distribute power elsewhere, they can't keep him a DPS mage and give him a high moment with ult. His current ult is not a high moment, simply a safety valve/means to deal some burst. That's why he's allowed to have his DPS.

I dont know what you mean by suck but i mean that it slowly pulls them to the blackhole not instantly and his current ult is underwhelming and it shouldnt even be call an ult if you ask me.

Icy Spectre1 votes

So basically a slow, only when enemy is walking into certain direction, that actually sounds stupid and useless.

Theiki Kayle1 votes

It sounds that way but the slow is hefty, allowing you/your team to catch up to them if you land it at max range. And if you fire Q-R together at a melee (that hasn't killed you yet) the knockback will send them right into a stun and one or two star hits.

Pyronaaxa1 votes

Actually no it synergizes very well with his kit and allows Sol to live long than his current ult and it slows and pulls everything in it. Think of it like Orianna's ult but not instantly pulling them together instead slowing and pulling everything in.

His ult needs to be a way to get people off of him because of how defenseless he is

Arsenic Sulfur1 votes

His ult is like that because it's the only reliable part of his kit, else he'd be feast of famine. And NO ONE should be feast or famine.

Theiki Kayle1 votes

I mean it the same way you do. And his ult is fine. Look at it this way. It's a Lux ult that has a lot less range but applies a hefty slow and knocks back anything in melee range.

Lux and Aurelion have strengths in all parts of their kit, that's why their ults are simply beams with some perks (either range or slow/knockback). Having an ult like you suggest would require rebalancing/reworking Aurelion's entire kit. He's one of the most balanced champions in the game. His ult is fine considering the state of the rest of his kit.

And no, Aurelion should not get reworked to accommodate a better ult, there aren't many champions that are tanky DPS mages with cross-map influence, he fills a good niche.

Pyronaaxa1 votes

Besides the fact that melee champs like MasterYi ,Zed , XinZhao , and others could counter his whole kit just by getting really close to him plus his ult is easily predictable if you ask me and his q easily dodgeable.

Theiki Kayle1 votes

That's why he's balanced. Imagine if he could double-tap Q like Anivia or had some way to get melee champs off him on a basic ability. He'd have zero counters. Long range mages can't burst him unless they're fed, and eventually he'll catch up. Mid range mages are prone to getting hit by stars. Melees can't get close because he shakes them off.

I have lv 7 mastery with Aurelion, and as much as I hate facing Fizz, Zed, Ekko, Irelia or any other melee with a gapcloser, I understand that it's necessary for them to be as annoying as they are because I can win/go even against most other champions (mages, champions without gapclosers etc).

Pyronaaxa1 votes

Aurelion Sol's counters are more than average and i am not complaining about his ult. The rest of his skills are totally fine. Aurelion Sol's ult is very underwhelming heck cho's q is more threathening than sol's ult.

Theiki Kayle1 votes

And that's what I'm trying to say. Sure, it's anticlimactic for him to have a beam of starlight as an ultimate, but you're supposed to be overwhelmed by the Q, passive/W damage and effects, so his ult can't be a high moment because then the champion would have too many high moments.

Also, at full build the burst from Voice of Light is considerable, I've blasted squishies simply with Q-R, it feels a bit like sniping people with Lux ult to me.

Who can say, the kit is fine and perfectly balanced but how satisfying an ult feels is up to the player.

Pyronaaxa1 votes

Ok, i get it now but i still think that his ult should be buffed a little bit becuase his q isn't exactly going to hit everytime you want it to. They should buff him by making his knockback distance larger when he activates his q and buff his damage a little bit 'cause sometimes your ult can leave your enemies with 10 or 10 health.

Theiki Kayle1 votes

I take DFT and I usually catch up with a star strike so not many people escape with low HP. But I see what you mean, and adding an additional effect if Q is active could be an interesting mechanic. However they'd have to give up something else for it, maybe increase E CD or lower the distance.

Pyronaaxa1 votes

Though if i may ask if Aurelion Sol can make his ult's knockback distance lzrger by activating his w and if he doesnt then they should give him that mechanic.

Theiki Kayle1 votes

He doesn't. What the ult does is knock them into the outer limit if they're inside of it. And increasing the knockback with W active would be kinda counterproductive, since the ult allows the expanded stars to hit them by pushing them in range.

Maybe they could reduce the ult scaling a bit (like lower it to 60% AP instead of 70% AP) and add a "Grounded" debuff when W is active and ult hits. That way it could be a better peel tool.

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

An easy way to buff the ult is to have it shred MR.

Slack King3 votes

Nah he is a dragon, best we can do is a breath attack

Pyronaaxa9 votes

Well ain't that just stereotypical.

Spoofghoul10 votes

And very racist

Not all dragons have bad breath

Quepha3 votes

A suction ult doesn't really fit what he wants to do at all. His goal is to get enemies trapped in the path of his orbits and pulling them in towards himself ruins that.

Plus, that would mean he'd be a dragon without a big breath weapon attack, which is a big failure on the 'dragon' thematic.

Pyronaaxa1 votes

I didn't mean that it would appear right beside or infront of him but rather at a targeted location. He is not just a dragon he is a celestial being. He also despises the dragons of runeterra and dislikes the wings which makes a dragon.

Astôlfo1 votes

Nah, basically same thing as Orianna ult.

Pyronaaxa1 votes

Well i'd rather have that than his very weak ult plus the blackhole wont just bring them all together it would just extremely slow them down like nasus' wither and would synergize more with his kit.

Astôlfo3 votes

Uh, if you think his ult is weak, I have no words to tell you.

Ace Access 1 votes

not exactly, only large stars can form black holes after going super nova medium sized ones like our sun turn into red giants , the smallest ones simply fade away leaving behind neutron stars

I think AurelionSol ult should've been his E

Pyronaaxa1 votes

I dont think making a large star is a BIG problem for Sol.

Have a Nice Game1 votes

If its for when a star dies, why not use it as his passive?

When he dies, surrounding enemy/neutral units are increasingly slowed over 5 seconds or so and drawn towards the center if they stop moving.

A true sacrificial hero for when you're being chased ;p

Pyronaaxa1 votes

Thats actually not that bad.

Voidrey1 votes

well, in his lore, the stars he creates are practically his children in his point of view, and since black holes are dead stars, then a black hole ult would be like killing his own children. just saying

Pyronaaxa1 votes

I don't think he sees his stars as his children but more like his creations and legacy. I dont see him treating soraka like one of his own and in his teaser you see him make a star and crushed it without hesitation.

Oleandervine1 votes

Black holes are the death of stars, which according to his lore, only occurs when he defies Targon. So no, this doesn't fit.

Pyronaaxa1 votes

If Aurelion Sol can create a star with just the palm of his hand then he could easily destroy it as well without help or defiance.

Oleandervine1 votes

{quoted}

If Aurelion Sol can create a star with just the palm of his hand then he could easily destroy it as well without help or defiance.

In his lore, he creates stars, treats them as his children, his creations, his works of arts. He talks of losing a part of himself when a star dies, something that the Targonians cause when he goes against their will. Him annihilating a star would be completly against his character.

Pyronaaxa1 votes

And by losing a part of himself you mean becoming depressed or literally getting weak? Because if he gets literally weak just by the loss of his stars then the targonians control over is 100% but if he just gets depressed or sad because of the loss of his stars then he can still escape their control. All Aurelion Sol has to do is man the hell up, accept losses and destroy the sun so that the targonians would go crazy plus in his lore the targonians influence started to fade away due to the void causing chaos everywhere and their fear ofcourse.

His current ult could get a new name like 'Pulsar" or "Supernova" or something and it would basically make it sound better and make sense thematically.

Something like Enigma's ult from DoTA?

PS I have no idea if Enigma is still the same in DoTA2 I'm going off memories from a decade ago.

EpicMusic1 votes

OHH YES PLEASE. stop saying dota2, it's DOTA

Sun Wukong Sun1 votes

Black Hole = passive after death. When he dies, all surrounding enemiess are pulled in for 1.5 seconds. Like a super large Diana moonfall with a slow.

Stars Shaper1 votes

A Black Hole is the result of a gigantic star collapsing on itself after burning all its fuel, the ending of a star life. I think that this would have been in utter contrast with Aurelion's character as he wants to preserve stars.

Inb4 "But his Q!", that's not properly a star though it can grow enough to become one :P

Pyronaaxa1 votes

And thats why the targonians are always controlling him through his stars. If Aurelion Sol could accept the loss of his stars for just a day and wreck havoc on the targonians without having to worry about his stars. The stars Aurelion Sol makes is very easy to create so he can replace the old ones.

Stars Shaper1 votes

"A star is so much more than a luminous sphere of wonder." "Each star is one of my hearts."

Stars are not simply mf lamps to him, they are pieces of his soul, children and beings to take care of. We can assume that Dark Star Thresh is the product of either a multitude of stars left to die or an alternate reality where Aurelion Sol decided to obliterate the Targonians sacrificng his stars. They are not something that he can leave to rot or be the cause of their destruction.

Pyronaaxa1 votes

Alright, I agree with you but may i strongly suggest that his ult should create a Sun. His Sun could be used to melt down their enemies aka shred their resistances or burn them slowly and if i may he can move it around. A blackhole or a supernova could be used as his passive if he dies.

Stars Shaper1 votes

An ultimate like Dota 2 Phoenix would be cool af :3

But again.. power budget xD

And being a bit Off Topic, don't underestimate his current one, today I timed it perfectly to lure in a Kassadin, knocking him back into stars range and killing him then dominating the field thanks to that first advantage.

I'd only want it if we had a refresher orb and blink dagger in this game
