So I finally played against a Yasuo

FancyKiwi··51 votes·3,708 views

And what the actual fuck. Those "nerfs" did nothing to him. He had PD and tri force for his damage items and thanks to Warlord's he could pretty much 1v5. He abuses Keystones so much. It also didn't help it was a gold Yasuo main so their ego put Kayne West to shame.

Phantom dancer is very toxic design, you shouldn't get damage reduction on a full damage item, like wtf

Squidward Dab2 votes

Careful if you dare say that on the boards, hoards of people will come downvoting you saying it's a 'niche item' that is designed for duelling cuz the other items have their own shit

Spicy Rice3 votes

I mean, they are right. Not saying that PD isn't a problem (cuz it is, especially combined with herald buff), just that they are right that it's a niche dueling item

AmetDeCrypt16 votes

the real problem is riot is still trying to make champs with good early games and mobility and tank stats out the ass scaling with these lategame items and then wondering why they're spiraling out of control when they aren't nerfed into the ground.

Knoyle5 votes

Don't remind people he exists. His playrate might raise.

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

Well I don't really agree with them intending for tank/bruiser-build melee carries and assassins. Aside from graves actually....

Just that ekko's W still exist on an assassin....(Hard CC when evelynn's and silences were an issue which isn't as unreliable as shaco's destroyable boxes or fizz's being an ULTIMATE, not to mention even if you don't land the stun it has some of the heaviest zoning powers in the game which an assassin shouldn't have)

Fizz's W exist on an assassin....(sustain damage is not ok on a burst duelist which assassins are suppose to be and unlike crit+AS you don't need to itemize for this sustained damage)

Yasuo's real issue isn't actually his P, W, or E but actually his R's armor penetration. You have to build crit to actually get into crit, windwall is easy to play around as long as you relax, while his mobility is tied to enemies. However his armor penetration allows him to forgo another extra item, LW something which doesn't actually give defensive stats at all nor does it increase mobility. If they removed that and buffed him slightly elsewhere it would destroy tank yasuo since his damage would lower immensely. However sadly people are still blindly angry at his crit, windwall and mobility to realize the hidden power of ulti.

Otherwise, most other cases, there really isn't much issue in where to hit. Graves is his E mixed with his build path. Simply rework the resistances for something else, like maybe 2 bullets instead of 1, a buff if you still had bullets before casting or something. Akali is getting a relaunch anyways so seeing something abusable pop up wasn't surprising.

Don't really remember any other champ with good early, mobility, and tank stats that wasn't justly dealt with.

AmetDeCrypt2 votes

you have to admit those things are annoying as hell if you're playing someone like sion who has to stand still to get his combo off while yasuo nopes out of range and gets in 7/12 auto attacks while you wind up your one q. (yea that happened to me recently and he wasn't even good, but the minions instantly aggro'd me when I hit him with one max range e and FUCK ME if they never stopped. then there's the whole "while I'm ulting and for a few seconds after the turret fucks off and won't hit me even when there are no minions so I get a free level 4 turret dive with a PD")

CheezyBoo6916 votes

You have to ban yasuo, hes pretty much the most overloaded kit in LoL.

He could be 0/100000/0 and windwall will still win the game.

Serika Zero3 votes

went 17/5/3 in a game vs yasuo mid that build pd and tank stuff the thing is, you need to understand what you are facing and yasuo power spikes.

if you DON'T get ahead of him by like 700+ gold before he finishes his first item (especially if its pd), you will lose the duel. If you got ahead, its not that difficult to maintain your advantage, but if you don't :( then it gets difficult and you should avoid 1v1s

Vistha Kai1 votes

The game OP is talking about was a normal game, where Yasuo was a full tier higher than the average rank of people there.

And no, if Yasuo is 0/100000/0 he isn't going to do shit, even with a good Windwall.

CheezyBoo691 votes

a 0/10000000/0 Yasuo can easily still win a team fight with windwall. Windwall can block autos from a ranged adc for 3 seconds, team's CC's, teams ultimates. It literally can shut down an entire team with no counter play other than "wait it out" or "bait it".

Its an IWIN button. The yasuo doesnt even need to do any damage whatsoever, just have a good windwall.. grats you won the fight.

Vistha Kai1 votes

That would only ever happen against a team composed of true idiots whacking at each other mindlessly.

Any real teamfight doesn't stay in one place for 1 second, let alone 4.

Yes, Yasuo can block a CC or two, or an ultimate, or a few basic attacks, but anybody with a brain isn't going to just stand there ignoring Windwall. If they would, they truly deserve to lose.

CheezyBoo692 votes

Um no. How it usually is, say your tank initiates on enemy team and your team throws all their spells, and yasuo just simply hits W. Grats, you just lost the fight.

What is the alternative? Your tank initiates, and your team holds on to all their spells because of yasuo can hit W. So you lose because yasuo's team got to throw all their spells out but you cannot because of broken Wind Wall.

What is the 3rd choice? Never initiate because of Wind Wall? Lets say, enemy team initiates, but yasuo throws Wind Wall up to negate all counter-initiation spells. You lose again.

Its a damned if you do, damned if you dont. Its broken and yasuo will forever remain a top ban in this game. Thats not even going into anything else in his vastly overloaded kit.

Oh wait, theres a counter to this. Just hope yasuo is bad and wastes wind wall. Now you're allowed to have a team fight. GG.

Vistha Kai2 votes

Ah, fatalism and simple-mindedness.

"It's either all or nothing."

Congratulations at being bad at the game.

CheezyBoo692 votes

That's all you have to say to debate the logic used?

You just lost the argument/debate, and ironically you bring up simple-mindedness, yet you just gave a personal attack because you lack the intelligence to refute my argument.

Congratulations at being bad at displaying any intellect whatsoever.

Vistha Kai2 votes

To get anywhere I'd first have to teach you how life works.

Because life adapts. If you see the game only as "throw everything at them at once and hope it works", then I really don't have much to discuss with you.

CheezyBoo692 votes

We did adapt.

We ban Yasuo.

Except the enemy gets to "throw everything at us at once", so already the team who gets to do that has a HUGE advantage.

Team fights last mere seconds.

Vistha Kai2 votes

Escapism isn't adaptation.

CheezyBoo692 votes

Um, yes it is.

It's how life works. If something becomes a problem in society, laws are passed to ban it.

Yasuo is a problem in this game, so the community bans it.

Thats how life works.

Vistha Kai2 votes

I'd like to encourage you to research what "escapism" stands for.

CheezyBoo692 votes

The term/definition has no place in the argument of what were talking about.

the tendency to seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, especially by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy.

What does this have to do with discussing the balance of Yasuo's Wind Wall?

Vistha Kai2 votes

The term/definition has no place in the argument of what were talking about.

Escapism is running away from a problem, which in case of you and your kind is banning Yasuo, instead of dealing with it, which in case of you and your kind would be learning how to play.

What does this have to do with discussing the balance of Yasuo's Wind Wall?

Because Yasuo's Windwall is no different than, say, Tryndamere's ult in execution.

Tryndamere ults? You either CC him or walk away. Yasuo ults? You either hold onto your spells for a moment or walk away/around.

Honestly, you are speaking about "balancing" Yasuo's Windwall, but at the same time a worst version of it exists, which people brush away "because it's on a tank".

Braum's Unbreakable blocks ults for his team just as effectively, but at the same time it can be moved at will, lasts just as long and has a much shorter cooldown at all ranks, not to mention due to support itemization will nearly always be used with maxed CDR. It can't be maneuvered around, unlike Windwall. There are two ways to deal with Unbreakable:

  1. Kill Braum who sports nearly 90% damage reduction on average with the shield up or...
  2. Displace Braum from the teamfight, which is only possible with the selected few.

But what am I saying. You think linear tactics (exchanging spells without moving) are the best way to wage a war (teamfight).

Cause the problem is legit with PD/TF into tank builds thanks to Fervor, Warlords and a bit rarely Thunderlords giving them all the damage they need, along with PD giving retarded damage reduction (who thought giving a mini exhaust on every AA was a good idea?) and TF giving everything you would want to consistently deal damage.

Yasuo, Irelia, Hecarim, Graves, Fizz, Ekko, etc.

Like c'mon even tank Akali, Kat and Yi were a thing and some guy built all assassins tank to prove that keystones are broken on assassins and fighters building tank. How many off meta tank build do we need for Riot to realize this?

Vistha Kai2 votes

None.

If Riot will ever do something that'd suggest otherwise, they would do it by mistake.

I agree, it's not like Ekko and Fizz have been nerfed a lot to try to remove their tank builds. Everything was clearly done by mistake kappa.

CheezyBoo691 votes

Actually, imo, the problem is wind wall.

The ability to instantly block all CCs, ultimates, ranged ADC shots etc etc late game?

Talk about an IWIN button.

Not one single strategy I've heard works well in a game vs it.

"Bait it out" - Requires the yasuo to be stupid enough to waste the wall. Has nothing to do with you, but the person playing yasuo.

"Walk around it" - Talk about an auto loss. While your team is busy "walking around" a windwall, thats a lot of wasted time they're not attacking. Can you say ACE?

"Hold onto your spells until he uses it" - Yet the enemy team can just drop all their spells instantly and team fights usually last a few seconds. Can you say ACE?

There just isn't any counter play to such a super strong regular ability.

Junkο1 votes

"Bait it out" - Requires the yasuo to be stupid enough to waste the wall. Has nothing to do with you, but the person playing yasuo.

Or you to be smart enough to attempt to attack Yasuo when he is out of position, even a thing as simple as Morg Q while everyone else is moving towards him will work, which causes him to waste windwall in exhcange for his life, which means your teams abilities are now free to use.

"Walk around it" - Talk about an auto loss. While your team is busy "walking around" a windwall, thats a lot of wasted time they're not attacking. Can you say ACE?

You should be moving between every AA, especially as ranged anyway, so idk what's so problematic here.

"Hold onto your spells until he uses it" - Yet the enemy team can just drop all their spells instantly and team fights usually last a few seconds. Can you say ACE?

Except this can actually work. If a skrimish starts with Yasuo there he will most likely throw out a Windwall to isolate the fight (leaving the ones fighting him free to use their spells), or throw it in front of the ones he is attacking since most don't have good point blank range ability reactions (which means you can just run through it after and go back to rest of your team and Winwall is down now.

**So we're assuming Yasuo cannot dodge anything, and Yasuo will be out of position. That is a lot to assume. **

"You should be moving between every AA, especially as ranged anyway, so idk what's so problematic here."

**Because as a mage, and even ADC, you cannot even begin attacking until you walk around the angle of the windwall. Which is a lot of time in such short team fights, so that is what's problematic. **

See this is the problem I have. Everything is in the Yasuo's hands. Everything depends on him not using Wind Wall intelligently. Why does this one champion have so much extreme power and control over team fights, and not to mention this is just ONE ability from his we are talking about. But yes, the only way to really get around Wind Wall is to hope Yasuo uses it pre-maturely, and the non Yasuo team has to run away to re-engage. That is just too much team work required for Yasuo pushing W

Junkο2 votes

I guess Tryndamere and Kayle are completely broken then. I mean they are completely invincible with no way to deal with their ultimates because they have perfect mechanics and dodging skills so it is impossible to bait them or CC them during it, we are just sitting ducks that can't do anything else but stand still as they mow us down and get that easy 1v5 pentakill.

Oh no wait. That's not how it works.

CheezyBoo692 votes

Apples and jackhammers.

Tryndamere ult affects tryndamere. Kayles ult affects one single person, and you can still CC them thru ult.

Are you even trying?

Emerald Fang5 votes

Okay, YASUO is not the problem. The ACTUAL PROBLEM is the abuse of items he can use. Tank Yasuo, Triforce Yasuo, you name it. The champion itself is fine, just the buildpaths he can use are broken. Please recognize this.

Woodakoodashooda23 votes

Any time an item is nerfed because of what ONE champion does with it, the champions who rely on that item for their builds and success are inadvertently nerfed as a result.

Junkο4 votes

Graves runs Warlords+PD also and he is just as disgustingly oppressive as Yasuo is.

Irelia, Ekko, Fizz, Hecarim, etc run into TF into tank and are all oppressive as fuck.

But nah the problem is Yasuo clearly.
