Meddler/Riot Team Lets have a chat about Aatrox.

Let me introduce myself. I am Darkin Messiah. I am currently a plat Aatrox main with over 150+ Games. I love playing Aatrox due to the champions theme but I have to admit he is fairly weak. If I win with Aatrox I feel that I just got lucky or my teammates helped make up for Aatrox late game.

Riot. In** 5.6 **the buff to Aatrox felt very underwhelming due to Aatrox's would ALWAYS stack blood well before any fight, but then you blew my socks off when 5.11 came and I saw that you still have this amazing champion in your hearts by reducing the passive CD at certain lvls. This isn't enough though sadly.

Aatrox's current state has no clear strengths other than GA passive, sustain in lane IF ALLOWED TO HIT MINIONS, and he was a jack of all trades (but mediocre in any role given like a fighter, tank, or melee carry).

All I am asking is if you add more utility to Aatrox. Aatrox is supposedly a legendary warrior, turning the tides of war when victory seemed assured for one side, only to turn the tables with a few words and an unknown power which inspires a monstrous bloodlust in people, and the master manipulator of Tryndamere and Jax giving them AMAZING POWER to where Jax has the strength of 10 and tryndamere has undying rage! Instead** Aatrox loses to both champions in every aspect they share other than sustain IF allowed to hit minions.**

Aatrox in my opinion needs a few buffs that gives him a set theme to his playstyle. From his looks and lore I have to say Aatrox's theme is a **powerful, manipulating, god of war who makes his teammates stronger! **

All I am asking is for some buffs/changes like you did to Karma Jayce Caitlyn Urgot . The reason why I am asking to buff his utility is because we don't know how the new item 3726 on PBE could change his W dmg. Anyway here are some of my ideas that I am fine that you take or want to change a little and implement to Aatrox

NOTE: These are a list of buffs they could do to certain parts of his abilitys. I am not saying to add everyone. I am saying pick 1 or 2 and move on.

Buffs to his passive - Blood Well:

  • keeps his bloodwell for 10 seconds after he revives.

Buffs to his Q - Dark Flight:

  • A sheild scaling off his Health or AD on the amount of people he knocked up
  • Reduced CD for the amount of people knocked up.
  • Increase the range (Its called Dark Flight not Dark Nosedive) (ALSO it could make him a initiator instead of having to follow up with a initiation)
  • Reduce the CD for every W activation by 1 second (so every 3 auto)
  • Reduce the HP cost (because it makes building tank difficult. Kinda like the old Sion passive when he just got reworked)

Buffs to his W - Blood Price/Blood Thrist:

  • The 3rd strike is magic dmg?
  • Every Blood Price will proc sheen ( I feel this way because he has AP ratios for sheen but his CD on abilities says "screw that".)

Buffs to his E - Blades of Torment:

  • Lower Cd
  • Reduces the AD of champions hit (like trynd)
  • Slows the targets AS
  • Increase the duration of his slow
  • Making it reduce targets Armor/Magic Resist. (the last 3 suggestions I feel like 1 of them are needed due to the fact it is harder to hit that other CC's due to its missile speed, its width, and range. Also its blades of TORMENT)

Buffs to his R - Massacre:

  • Aoe Fear
  • Giving Allies bonus AD,AS,LS, PEN, or/and MS (it makes "only to turn the tables with a few words and an unknown power which inspires a monstrous bloodlust in people" feel true!)

What does this accomplish by adding more utility to Aatrox?

  • Gives Aatrox something in his kit most other champions dont have making him more of a pick if they want for what ever utility is added"
  • Gives him the feeling of a God of War without buffing his dmg!
  • Stronger Teamfight presence instead of being Leeeeeeeeeeeroy Jenkins!
  • Giving him tools in his kit to counter certain champions making him a reliable counter pick (currently I dont see him countering anyone)
  • It might solve his TERRIBLE late game with the built in utility he has.
  • it makes hitting his abilitys E and Q more rewarding adding a playstyle like a Nid Q allowing her to go all in.

Wait, do you want ALL of those buffs? Cause that's broken as fuck then.

All I really think is that he should gets more stats the less health he has. I don't understand why tryndamere and a bunch of other champions have it when he's literally defined as a demon who turns the tides. So, all in all, extra stats and possibly a health leech similar to Trundle on his ultimate.

I should be clearer, my bad. These are just my ideas and are not meant to use EVERY BUFF. I will fix that now

Masked Pariah1 votes

I fixed it but yeah. I am not asking for ALL the utility buffs to be added. I dont want a Fighter version of Ekko :P

(overloaded with utility)

Personally I typically do pretty well with Aatrox, though I haven't been playing much recently. Too many of your ideas are an overbuff to a champion that's not in a terrible place. He could use VERY minor buffs. Like the ones in this thread.

some of the buffs on that website are nice and some of them are what I stated, BUT i have to say that you are wrong to the overbuff due to the fact Aatrox is right now mediocre or below mediocre in most roles given to him. Also they are not as big as you see. They are average size buffs with 3 buffs I see that you could say are a over buff (2 from his ultimate but remember its a ULTIMATE and the idea to have a sheild base on how many are knocked up but remember it HAS to be a knock up and most champions have big sheilds now days Azir Ekko Riven and Tahm Kench)

If you notice what these buffs are doing it just make Aatrox more of a pick. For example why have Aatrox when we can have someone like Irelia who offers more and easier to play. Why have Aatrox as our tank when we can have Malph,Mao, or gnar who are easier and give more, why have** aatrox splitpush when we could have trynd or jax who offers more and easier to play**. Why pick aatrox to play as a sustain lane when we can pick vlad who is easier and offers more instead?

You see where I am going with this?

He's not mediocre. He doesn't need a shield when he already has massive sustain. Ekko, Riven, and Azir are all without sustain unless they build for it. He doesn't need some of the crazy buffs you're suggesting. He needs love taps to push him into line but is otherwise fine.

Aatrox as a pick is fine. You need to relook up the definition of "more".

Irelia? Less sustain, less CC/utility, more damage.

Maokai? Less sustain, less damage, more CC/Utility.

Malphite? See Maokai, but even less sustain/utility.

Trynd? More damage, less CC/Utility, less sustain.

Jax? See Trynd.

Vlad? Weaker early game. Only provides damage and that's it, no CC at all, only utility is something that provides more damage.

Gnar? More CC, more damage over time, less sustain. The only champion who's strictly more useful than aatrox that you've mentioned.

Of the champions you mentioned here. Only irelia/gnar are strictly stronger in lane. The rest are are either in favor or is a even match up.

You see where I'm going with this?

Irelia has just as much sustain, and same or more utility (passive tenacity,E that slows or stuns,Ult that heals and procs sheen 4 times)

Mao has just as much sustain, less dmg depending on the build (if he doesnt go ROA), more cc/utility

Malphite I agree. Less sustain but more CC/Utility/ tankiness and overall a better initiator even though he does it with his ult.

Trynd's utility is more and sustain is just as much. (built in Crit, built in AD, E CD reduced by crit, slow MS, reduce AD, undying ult)

Jax can use sheen, mix dmg, tankier, more reliable cc, dodging auto, and the part about his sustain is weaker I agree.

Vlad is average or balance early game, easier to use, ult that is like a zed death mark for his allies, E increases heal, untargetable, safer sustain, may not have cc but he doesnt need it.

Gnar has more cc, more dps, more bust, poke, mix dmg, stronger initiator, tankier, and sustain is weak because he doesnt have it built in.

your argument for some champions not having sustain like malph, jax, and gnar do not really matter because they do not have built in sustain so judging them against Aatrox on that aspect is quite unfair. If you wanna judge sustain then pick champions with built in sustain

also Aatrox can be heal by hitting a minion 3 times but remember his low hp and base stats making it easy for someone to deny him farm to auto.

Like I said for the 4th time. My ideas are just IDEAS meant to make him a unique pick not a OP pick. Stop thinking that the sheild gives him 2000 sheild or the ult gives allies 200 AD or the reduce AD subtracts 60 ad from the targets hit. Riot doesnt have to use these ideas if they dont want to. Who knows they could have another idea to give him utility that is not listed.

Irelia has just as much sustain, and same or more utility (passive tenacity,E that slows or stuns,Ult that heals and procs sheen 4 times)

Her heals are definitely less unless you're just refusing to build Aatrox with AD/lifesteal and refusing to use his blood thirst below 50% HP. A single target situational stun cannot be compared to a multi target slow and a multi target knock up. Tenacity is a defensive feature not utility. Sheen procing is a damage feature, not utility.

Mao has just as much sustain, less dmg depending on the build (if he doesnt go ROA), more cc/utility

He doesn't. He can only use his form of sustain after a certain amount of spell casts, not exactly a frequently used ability unless facing a spam mage like vladimir. If maokai is out damaging aatrox with just a roa, you're doing something wrong.

Trynd's utility is more and sustain is just as much. (built in Crit, built in AD, E CD reduced by crit, slow MS, reduce AD, undying ult)

He doesn't have more utility. Built/free in stats is not utility. He has 2 forms of utility AD reduction and a situational slow. Where as aatrox has a AOE knock up and a line multi-target slow.

Jax can use sheen, mix dmg, tankier, more reliable cc, dodging auto, and the part about his sustain is weaker I agree.

He can use sheen, what of it? Mixed damage, what of it? Aatrox's CC is very reliable unless you can't aim with it.

Vlad is average or balance early game, easier to use, ult that is like a zed death mark for his allies, E increases heal, untargetable, safer sustain, may not have cc but he doesnt need it.

Vlad is bad in the early game unless he's facing an enemy who can't all-in him (which Aatrox can). His ult LOOKS like Zed's ultimate, but it is not. Zed's mark explosion absorbs by the amount of damage he deals to that target over a period of time. Vlad's ultimate merely amplifies all damage dealt to the target by a flat percentage. The mark explosion damage is static. For the purpose of a teamfighter he's just a bundle of difficult to kill damage.

Gnar has more cc, more dps, more bust, poke, mix dmg, stronger initiator, tankier, and sustain is weak because he doesnt have it built in

Basically what I said.

also Aatrox can be heal by hitting a minion 3 times but remember his low hp and base stats making it easy for someone to deny him farm to auto

Only his base HP is low, everything else is either average or above average. Only SOME champions can zone him (champions that have lots of early burst/DPS like Riven and Darius), and they can zone a lot of champions. Low base HP is fixed by running HP or HP per level seals instead of armor (as his armor is well above average) as well as purchasing defensive HP items in the mid game such as randuins omen and Spirit visage. He has champion counters like literally every other champion in the game.

Like I am saying by repeating myself. Some of your ideas would turn him into an OP pick unless they were so weak they were pointless.

To be honest I don't think you read everything I typed in the forum and why I am doing this and my reasoning behind so. No offense.

EffectFX1 votes

Oh I read it. I just think most of the buffs you're suggesting are too much for a champion that is not really all that weak.

CreationFlaw1 votes

Well, it's not his lane phase that bothers me. It's the fact that I can go 9/1 in lane, but unless I'm getting a kill every minute, I fall off super hard. Like, I smashed a riven just to be 1v1'd when I left lane to roam for a few minutes. He just, for a "hypercarry", he's too squishy and his cc/gapcloser is SUPER unreliable. Like, wouldn't it be neat if you could jump over the cc, intsead of getting whacked in midair from a bunch of vines traveling across the ground?

Masked Pariah1 votes

exactly he falls off. Adding better ratio's can only help to a certain extent. What aatrox needs is more utility to be stronger late game to where he is a unique pick. Not a OP pick. Seems like everyone is getting confused with what im trying to say.
