Is there any data on MMR rating and rank based on player location? especially in relation to servers

in terms of balance I don't think it can get any more basic than allowing at the very least a majority of the players access to competitive server speeds. I am constantly seeing posts on about players swapping from NA to LAN servers because they live on the east coast and suffer large amounts of latency when using the NA server which is based on the opposite side of the continent from them. Meanwhile LAN is for some reason located in Florida...

but I digress, I am wondering if there has been any data collection done on the effect player distance from the NA server location has on a player's ranking and if there is a noticeable trend in that data that shows a majority of the higher ranking players being in close proximity to the server. If anyone has any information on this I would greatly appreciate it.

My main reason for inquiring this is because as someone who's ping constantly hovers in the 90-120 range I've seen gameplay from players who are located on the west coast and quite frankly with their low almost nonexistent ping the game looks like it plays entirely different. Players were more responsive and appeared to have more time to react, even if just a fraction of a second that can often make the difference in if a skill shot lands or misses etc.
