Clarity: CC Vs. Mobility (What wins?)

What do i mean by CC vs Mobility? In a number of games i have played i have noticed inconsistent interactions between CC during a given champions mobility. Let me give some examples:

The age old: Blitzcrank VS Ezreal

We all know the awkwardness that occurs here. If Ezreal E's during blitzcranks hook, it will cancel. Mobility wins this match up

The new: Morgana VS RekSai If morgana binds reksai during the animation of reksai's burrow then reksai will get binded AFTER the mobility. This interation is slightly odd but has been a frustrating point for me.

the inconsistant:

In normals i spam alot of Velkoz. he is one of my favorite champions. BUT His E is inconsistant for several different mobilities found in the game.

Velkoz VS Tristana OR Corki

this is where things get messy. I have noticed in countless match ups against these champions that my E will sometimes interrupt the two similar jumps. I have placed my E BEFORE tristana's animation had begun and she completely ignored my E. I have knocked a Corki out of valk MID FLIGHT. There are countless other interations that i could mention. Like how Darius Morgana Nami interact with things... And dont get me started on summoner 4 interactions

Im not sure if this is a good thing(having CC vs mobility interactions differ) But it can be frustrating when i set up a perfect kill on tristana and she just jumps away during my CC. I would love if someone could test things out (with me?) and see exactly what is happening during these instances.

Im just looking for summoner 13

any displacement abilities will only stop mobility if it happens after the cast animation ie trist shooting the ground, once she is in the air she can be stopped any root/snare style ability will activate once the mobility ability has finished ie trist is hit with a snare while shooting the ground, she will get snared at the end of her jump

The reason flash is so strong is because the first half of the time it take to execute is considered casting time

Channeled mobility (Tristana and Ezreal ) get to move because they started the ability before they were hit with the CC. If you fire a stun at Ezreal or Trist, and they dash away, they'll be stunned when they land.

Blitzcrank 's grab is tricky because it is two parts, the initial stun and the displacing pull. Trist and Ezreal can escape because the stun hits first. I think that's in common with all pulls.

Tristana , Corki , Leblanc , LeeSin , etc. can have their dashes interrupted half way through. I remember one example in the LCS where a Thresh flayed a LeBlanc right after she started her Distort, resulting in her not going forward at all. I've used a Nami Bubble on Trist mid jump to stun her. Disclaimer - Both the examples listed have displacement tied to them. I believe that a normal stun (a la Dark Binding) will apply upon reaching the destination.

summoner 4 has been able to exploit a glitch in the game, one that should be fixed sometime this patch. The glitch boils down to this: If I get CCed, and see a second form of CC coming at me, I can use summoner 4 or item 3157 and it will activate between the two CC's, even though I was stunned the entire time. This same glitch is why you occasionally see a chain stunned champion walk forward a few steps before the second stun takes over. I'm not sure how this will effect CC and Flash in general. I've heard that Skarner use to be able to ult champions and catch them as they flashed away (the understanding I have is that it was similar to Ezreal/Trist, but in reverse. Since Skarner channeled while in range, it took priority and moved them the appropriate distance behind him). In the same thread they mentioned that Darius 's pull functions the same way Skarner's ult use to. Unsure if that's a bug or if Darius gets a free pass on that one.

Hopefully that helps a little, but I agree it's less intuitive than it should be.

This makes complete sense. I play Darius from time to time and its hilarious to pull people even after they flash. Its complete bullcrap but funny. I have still seen some odd things about tristana's jump though. i guess it also has to do with server lag? ive had times as blitzcrank where all game i pull tristana before and after he jump, then the next game she gets away free. I have no way to prove it unfortunately, and i havent put in time to test things. The same can be said for velkoz because of his knock back effect.

maybe because it functions on a similar 2 part basis like blitz hook? gah my head is spinning...

knockups are the king of CC. it stops literally everything, even those annoying tristana jumps or reksai tunnels.

ive noticed riot is gving a lot of champions knockups these days...

Mobility vs displacement has odd workings. Mobility vs a stun or snare is pretty simple. If you hit someone with a snare just or mid jump/dash, it will apply as soon as their jump/dash ends.

If you hit someone with displacement CC, it will often cancel out their jump/dash/blink. The odd part comes in the form of pulls like Blitz's. I've seen many times where someone is trying to jump away from him just as hit rocket punch hits them, somehow their dash manages to somewhat cancel his out, usually leaving them about where they were in the first place.

There are some exceptions even to simple CC. Yasuo's dash is coded to stop in it's tracks for any CC, for example.

Really? Never saw that one before. Don't play Yas though so not surprising.

Only CC that seems to be the most pain is Thresh's hook. Feels overwhemling even with Ezreal E

I can agree with that, i feel bad for the poor jinx during my placements Thresh

In my simple opinion, click to win cc is > than mobility, and mobility is > skill shot cc.

generally speaking.

Thats actually an interesting idea, i may have to test this out to see if it holds true for most, but if it does its a good baseline.
