Time To Be Salty (tired of broken matchups since 5.22 release)

Time to spill some truth here. I don't care if I get banned, receive a penalty of some sorts, or if the community disagrees with me, but this needs to be said and I know I am not the only one who has experienced this issue. Riot, you need to fix your matchup system. Plain and simple. It is pretty obvious something is wrong when you are constantly matched against platinum players whilst you haven't even played a ranked game in your life, then to boot, having teammates who continuously ask "WERE DER ALWAYS 2 TOWERZ ON DIS MAP?!" and simply cannot understand the concept of discontinuing to overextend even after their 8th gank. I understand in TT for example, the game can only work with the players who are queuing for said map, however, I think your queuing service is thinking the number of games played determines who you are teamed with (which if it is, honestly is a joke because game time doesn't always = better skill level)

Secondly, your report system needs work because it's a bigger joke then my sex life (sad truth on my part, but even more saddening that you've surpassed it); Can you guys honestly even tell me you check it and issue warnings/bans for inappropriate conduct based on the report you receive? So many trolls/ignorant people on this game it almost makes a person sad to play the game. I understand you will always have those types of people out there, but when your community treats you worse then how an adulteress treats a cuckold, that should be a clear indication it's time for a change.

I look forward to the list of excuses as to why my post is completely irrelevant and perhaps new ideas as to why I should uninstall the game.

Thank-you for your time

A discouraged 5.22 League of Legends player

You're telling me you're not enjoying the cancer of this patch? What now?! INCONCIEVABLE

A Miss Fortune11/17/2015, 11:39:11 AM5 votes

I'm Silver 2 but if you look at my match history in Ranked or Normals I always get matched with Gold - Diamond players if I play solo. I don't think It's a big problem for me though and not only do I feel like I personally do better but games are more fun and interesting and you can learn more.

As for the Report System I think that it was significantly improved over time, bans are starting to finally mean something. I still think Riot is too easy on trolls and feeders who intentionally throw Ranked games. Like in the case with Dunkey or whoever he was and the guy who fed in one of his games that he recorded, Riot will easily give Dunkey a 2 week ban for insulting the Malphite (which he probably didn't care about anyways) but the Malphite probably won't even get so much as a warning for feeding until he does it a number of times.

I've been getting a lot of false reports for picking non-meta stuff like Ezreal top. They even tell me in the lobby they'll report me and then I get reported for "offensive language" if we lose the game. This is despite not saying anything more than flash timers. Reminds me of this.

I haven't gotten punished again but it shows that the problem isn't just the trolls but also those sending false reports and trying to control you with threats in the lobby.

Normal game MMr is different from ranked MMR it's that simple. Also their report system is fine. I've trolled, afk'd, flamed and I have been punished for each. Not liking that I lost season end rewards for it on one of my accounts either, makes me really salty about the whole thing, but I realize that it's my fault and I am not blatantly blaming Riot for my misgivings. Their report system works fine and players actually get punished, just because they don't inform you someone you reported received punishment. Your MMR is the issue for the first issue and the second one isn't even an issue.

Man, do I know that feeling. This season, I got a team where I was the highest rank on my side, no teammates had 100 games counting normals and every opponent VASTLY outranked me. Placements are a bitch. I wrote Riot support, thinking it was a bug and got told it's supposed to be that way.

Fast forward to my ranked 5s team. It's Bronze 1 playing opponents averaging a 1750 MMR. That's about Gold 1 to Plat 5, btw.

For normals a lot of people highly ranked tend to play mostly ranked games. And when they do play normals it often to goof around or test out something crazy. Thus their normal MMR isn't very high.

I'm... afraid. I haven't been playing League for a while, as I got Fallout 4 and have been playing the shit out of it. (Is really good game actually you should go get it.) But, looking at the Boards now, I'm kind of scared to get back into the League pre-season. So please, can one of you level minded, thoughtful people explain to me if the pre-season is really that bad? Because if even a FRACTION of what the Boards say is true about League's balance right now, I don't want to play.

I honestly think that this issue precedes patch 5.22. I have always been placed with Gold, Platinum, and Diamond players in ranked and I am only S1. During my most recent promo to attempt for gold 5 before the season ended, my team and I completely got destroyed. I was stunned by the coordination of the enemy team (This was solo que), and how they were constantly able to best us (Aside from the fact that no one uses wards bot-side in silver and no one understands what the MIA ping means). After the game, I looked at the chat, and notice how some of the enemy teammates were talking about how they finally got out of platinum into diamond. I don't know if my MMR is unusually high for a silver or I'm just that unlucky.

I honestly think that your games in ranked should be based on other people the same rank as you, and not your skill level. It would be sooooo much easier to climb out of the lower tiers.

Dude its preseason.

Im d4 in ranked and find it impossible to enjoy normals because of this. You either try a new champ and lose to someone who spams the mastery emote at you (and no matter how narrowly they win that fight fight, it turns into an unstoppable snowball soon after and all you really learn is how to farm under turret) or you play something you know even though you could be doing that in ranked without having to worry about your team being plat vs silver or something (playing a champ youre competent on but getting screwed by your team feels bad. Especially as a jungler, 2/4 games today people messed up my leash so i had to do a buff as level 1, and thats not even getting into ignoring ganks and such. Nothing fun about that)

Last season I picked up a bunch of toplaners without much trouble and even if i kinda fed i could be more useful later by being where i needed to be. Now, i have no idea how to have fun in norms outside of stomping with the same 3 champs i could just play in ranked.

People will have bad games. People will be toxic. Those who are constantly toxic do get banned, but only the person who triggered the ban gets a message saying their report got reviewed and the toxic player got punished. But those who slip up every once in a while don't get banned, and those are the majority of toxic people you see. I don't think you should be banned if you slip up every once in a while, but yes toxicity should be removed, how do you suggest Riot does it?

Ohh i've been waiting to post some of the matchups I have had in my TeamBuilder adventures! http://oi64.tinypic.com/2illa41.jpg http://oi63.tinypic.com/24oam8p.jpg http://oi57.tinypic.com/x1azbl.jpg

In case anyone was wondering why some people refuse to play normals

Arkna11/18/2015, 9:15:26 AM1 votes

It's a quirk of the mmr system. After the season ends, lots of high ranked players who don't play very many normals enter the queue since there's no real reason to continue playing ranked, and there are significant changes they need to test. Since normal and ranked mmr are seperate, they typically have a very low normal mmr since they haven't played as many normal games. It corrects itself after a couple of weeks.

I just played ranked for the first time 2 months ago. I wanted to see if I could get to Gold for the Sivir skin.

I started to warm up to the idea of Ranked Draft after Riot started dumping reported players into Normal Draft. I really liked Ranked because I avoided large Pre-Mades which I've mainly had a negative experience with and because I never heard anyone say "who cares, this is just norms" in ranked. I've always used Ranked as a way to find competitive matches, and I feel it largely does better than normal currently does. I sincerely hope they don't implement the group queues in ranked this season.

An even bigger issue at hand -elo boosters and smurfs this is the cancer of all games where they don't play like a remote scrub(which is easily told since I'm bronze) its so cancerously obvious and frustrating because playing against people who have better game knowledge and mechanical skill is not fun -somebody threatened to report me just because i didn't hit the enemy even though i wanted to play safe he kept flaming me on how i never hit them then left the lane and said in all chat "KILL THIS VAYNE SHE JUST LETS YOU HIT ME" only for me to get a kill by myself in 1 vs 3(without dying) simply because of that reason whats worse is he wasn't even playing support(the very role he called)he just played full ap i held myself back till the end of the game where in the end toxicity got me and i got a message that warned me to have a better behaviour.the thing is i didn't even report that guy i felt nice at the time and normally only report leavers -this only applies to blind pick instalokers you know i actually don't mind a person locking instantly ONLY IF FOR THE LOVE OF GOD YOU KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOUR DOING IN THAT LANE and not rage quit i can't believe how many times this has happened a person instaloks then dies once and rage quits.. -ranked whiners of how they say I've been X role for 5 games now plz give this role,i hate this beyond reason because man PICK ORDER EXISTS AND AINT NOBODY GUNNA GIVE 2 F**** unless they feel nice and the ever so great i can't play support,jg, etc I've only seen this a few times i checked there match history, and hey guess what in one of there last few games they happened to play that role or when they ACTUALLY CANT PLAY THE ROLE you know i can understand this better then the last one but please atleast learn 1 champion for each role and practice in customs and blinds (im a real shitty support but i can play morgana support well) there are way more problems then 1 may think

I get matched with silvers in normal blind picks and I'm platinum but that's because when I play normals I play with my silver friends. When they're not on, I get matched up with silvers still and that's just because I don't play my best in normals. I try out new champs or touch up on my mechanics on my mains and don't really focus on the win so much as I focus on just working on my individual skill and learning champions and such. When I get to team builder, however, I get matched up with plat-diamond players and that's mostly because that's when I will pick a specific champ and really try hard. So I think it all balances out. If you find yourself getting out matched from the get-go, just take it as an opportunity to learn and get better.

Something that low elo players don't realize:

YOU LEARN MORE WHEN YOU'RE LOSING. So take advantage of it. Don't /ff 20, because then you're losing out on the chance to learn how to play when behind.

Also, I don't see toxicity very often any more. It's almost non existent on my side. Maybe you're promoting it in your games by talking? It seems you're very easy to upset so I can see how you could probably end up saying something that would either make someone upset or make a situation worse.

Shroom Junkie11/17/2015, 3:41:37 PM1 votes

I get paired with players at my skill level. I'm Silver V, but I always get paired with high Silver-high gold/low plat(kind of the same thing because they're usually Plat V with 0 LP), and I easily compete with them.

Oh yeah, played mid TF last night against duo Yas and Ahri for 45+ minutes. it should have been my doom but I was actually winning lane for most of the game it was like this was their first time or something xD But it got to the point where both teams had open nexus and everyone was so strong, i could Q W for the kill on everyone on their team. But it was like these guys had never gotten this far in the game before, they were just roaming jg, and wandering off alone trying to take dragon, nobody wanted to guard the base OR push on the enemies it was just weird. So I was stuck guarding the nexus even though im the only one who could ambush their nexus(with ult). Eventually Ahri, Teemo, and Kindred just ran in and Kindred ulted so I could do anything. my ENTIRE team(except our top Heimerdinger who just ran the opposite direction) was in jg taking red buff..... I was just sitting there staring at the "defeat" animation just.. completely blown away like how did we get this far in the game!? both teams were complete retards, nobody even knew what objectives to take! why was I even there!?!

Vincent Lucius11/17/2015, 6:16:38 PM1 votes

My guess would be that you're playing against people who are platinum but don't play a lot of normals. Your normals MMR is decent, or their's is complete crap and so you get paired with them. If they play more normals they'll get out of your MMR and start getting match-ups that are appropriate.

In the mean time, the game registers them in normals as having similar skill to you and your teammates.
