Honestly, how to deal with tanks?

I am an adc main myself. I just dont understand how I am supposed to deal with these tanks. I mean even with last whisper and botrk they are fucking impossible to kill. I may be doing more damage to them then they are to me but that doesn't matter cause they have 10x more health. How can they justify making a champ that can withstand an all out 30 second assault from an adc but can themselves turn around and kill that adc in two to three seconds? Does Rito just want to eliminate all classes except for tanks? Like do they just want to see tank fights from now on?

General Advice:

If you have PTA, and your team is smacking them once it procs, it doesn't matter if they have 8 thornmails.
Last Whisper>Armor
Infinity Edge>Health
Your team isn't looking for you to solo the tank, just shoot it.

Another question: by "not being able to take them down" do you mean they are running rampant in a 1v3 scenario and surviving consistently? Or are you just upset that they survived more than 3 autos?

What's your most played ADC, and what's the tank you want to face the least? Marksmen and Tanks are varied enough that general advice might not be helpful, so if you can be specific maybe you can get some useful advice.

I main Ashe. Tanks like Zac, Rammus, Orn, Ivern, Amumu and Nautalis are just to much to handle. It has been my experience that regardless of how I itemize I can't take them down. The part that bugs me is how much damage they are doing. Not so much with Nautalis but Zac, Rammus, Orn... they deal a lot of freaking damage for a class that is supposed to be tanking. I mean it would be a completly diffrent story if I did not have to worry about anything but their cc. That is not the case. Tanks have seemingly no problem killing adc's in this meta.

How to deal with tanks? Play an ADC, not a Lethality caster/Jihn.

Did the enemy team pick hard tanks? If yes: You play.... Vayne, Varus, Kog'maw, Jinx, Draven, etc etc.

Did the enemy team not pick hard tanks? If they didn't: You play.... MF, Ezreal, Jihn, whatever the hell u want.

Then phearbunny's first answer should apply. Pick a dps adc, not a "lul I hit Q and you died" adc. Ashe Caitlyn and jinx are pretty decent at this actually, you just gotta make sure you're not trying to kill a tank while you're still in melee range
