Question on the balancing on Lux's Ultimate

So I was wondering what the balancing for Lux's ultimate is. It seems to have a relatively low cooldown for the damage and range it has, but then again it might just be that its easier to notice her ult due to it being a pretty blast of light. I am guessing there is some weak spot on her I am missing, and I am just asking if someone can point out for me what it is so I can try to utilize that if I can. No I do not think Lux is overpowered as I am not one to judge, I just know I get bad luck when she is around some reason(like I get more mistakes, disconnects, errors, etc.) even if she is not near me.

Well to start, it is pretty easy to dodge if you respond by walking perpendicular to beam. Although its range is long, its nowhere as long as Jinx, Ashe or Ez's ults. The cooldown isn't tremendously short either.

Unless I flash I never seem to make it out of the way in time, I am working on that though. Thank you.

The only reason people think it's on such a low CD is because Lux pretty much needs 40% CDR to be relevant late-game. Its actual CD is 80/65/50 seconds, if the LoL Wiki is accurate.

exactly. The 40% CDR most build is so you can poke the heck out of teamfights, but as a side bonus it makes some really nice 30 ulties

Ah, alright, thanks for clearing that up!

Flash out of it if you need to. Try getting a friend to play Lux against you in custom games and practice Flashing out of and sidestepping her ult. That's probably the best advice you're gonna get, honestly.

If you're running from a Lux after a teamfight, and you don't know if she has her ult, split up (if your teammates are with you and alive) and run in zig zags, serpentine, or in other weird angles to throw off their aim. The best bet is running into the jungle and immediately heading in a different direction so she'll have no idea where you are; I play Lux all the time, and that it the ploy I've had the most success with when facing an enemy Lux.

Really, though, even if you won the teamfight, if Lux is alive and you're retreating, SPLIT UP. I once got a triple kill after my team got murdered (I died first, respawned and got back and sniped them with her ult as they were retreating) because the enemy team didn't notice I was alive and all grouped up, so REALLY, I can't stress the necessity of that enough.

The thing that makes Lux's ult so powerful is that if she lands an ability on you prior to the ult, it does extra damage and applies damage over time to you. The trick in escaping her ult is staying out of range of her other abilities unless she just "dry fires" the ult on you which is less than ideal for anyone who knows how play Lux.

With her ult I always watch for the red line, just as you would watch for blitz grab or thresh hook. It does have a cast time that can be sidestepped even without flashing. You do need to react fast though.

I guess at the core I need to work on noticing AND reacting then. For the hooks I hide behind minions

It's just the lux passive. Its cool down isn't that short; the CDR items just make it to around 30 seconds. Usually before ult, she probably does the q-e combo and procs her passive before ulting. At least, that's what I do. Pretty sure you can dodge it as long as you've got quick reaction time and juke her light binding.
