she has an average early game, a shit mid game, and a average late game. her siege pressure is less than many other champions in the same role, and there is no viable reason to pick her over other carries in the role in SOLOQ.

Yeah her early game and mid game are rather average, this is true. But you're also forgetting a huge aspect of her (And the fact Average is not bad, especially for a late game carry) and that is A.) She is extremely safe to play with an escape, traps and huge range and B.) she has utility with her traps (again) and net giving her more uses beyond just her flat damage in the early/mid game.
Because of all that she is actually a great soloQ character right now, not to mention she is one of those carries (like Ez and corki atm) who can handle themselves and mildly make up for a shit support, thus allowing you to be slightly more independent which once again lends itself to SoloQ. She might not be faceroll for people new to her but she is honestly rather great Soloq.
So, I disagree all in all.
Also her late game is above average. Although she stills falls short of Hyper carries like Vayne/Jinx and to a point Trist late game, she has enough range and utility to make up for it and she still does an extremely sizable amount of damage, to the point your enhanced passive shot can actually one shot unprepared squishies if it crits. She isn't bad by any means and is a safe pick.

trist has her seige power, better late game scaling, a better movement ability, equal single target damage, more aoe damage, scaling range similar to caitlyns range, and a peel ultimate that does burst damage.
there is no reason for SOLOQ to pick cait over trist. ever. she flat out under performs in the role.

what riot should do is tune her back into: early game bully, weak mid-game, and hypercarry late game.
she flat out falls short of her dream with her current numbers and just needs slight tweaks to catch back up.

A.) but she is a reliable and safe pick.
B.) Comparing anyone to the highest power picks is always going to look like that, that is why most of them are banned out and picked up, leaving safer picks like cait open for grabs or more niche/specalized picks like corki.
C.) Yes, Trist is good. No one is arguing this. But Cait can shut trist down early and mid game as well as out ranging her that entire time. Trist winning late game (which is what you're describing) is kind of how they're designed in contrast to each other.
D.) Safer, easier, more flexable, more self reliance. You're confusing soloQ priorities with pre-made ones.
E.) This doesn't make sense. If you're an early game bully and win your lane, even if you have a 'weak' mid game by design you're just going to carry the lead over, have a strong mid game and still be a hyper carry late. See MF over the past while for an example. Lane bully ADCs should generally have an early power spike that peeks and then evens out at the mid game with perhaps very small extra item peeks at the late game. But lane bully+hyper carry just doesn't mesh well.
F.) Her dream is a long range sniper ADC. She still does that pretty well tbh. She just isn't your cup of tea from the sounds of it. So more power to you and what you enjoy.

i don't mean any offense but I am having a feeling this is largely in part due to the people you play with, not the champion ^^'
