Is Nocturne "GOOD"?

Sworeclipse··4 votes·1,538 views

So, I've been thinking of getting nocturne because I had a lot of fun with him in champion rotation. But, whenever I search of a video or forum post about him EVERYONE is saying he's garbage and dies quickly in the jungle. I'm not sure if I should play him or not... I'm thinking of going either jungle or top lane assasin. Please tell me if he's OK to play or if he's complete garbage and can't do anything in season 6. Also, if he's good/ok should I play him in the jungle or top lane?

Don't listen to most people, they will say any champ is garbage if they aren't freelo.

As for Noc, he is a solid champ. If you get him down, he can hard carry games. He has some of the best ganks in the game, hard CC, decent sustain, and does LOTS of damage. He can play top or jungle. He is good top if you use him to roam mid for ganks with his ult.

The most important thing is that you find him fun, so get him and play him.

ok ty so much!!! I think i'm going to buy him :D

He's not bad

he's not great

he's got very nice ganks

a very potent ulti and for a jg, quite a bit of damage if you go that arm pen build.

Edit: if you do take him toplane (Ive done mid/top with him a few times) he's got very crippling mana costs, so be mindful of that.

Ah ok...

He's very unpopular right now, mostly just because of the other jungle champs currently available being a lot better. Good Nocturne players are still very good.

ok... How about in top lane? And do you recommend a good jungler that does a lot of damage?

Ok sure but why1 votes

tbh he's EXTREMELY good in 1v1's, so if you were to go top, you'd have a real easy time

Ok thanks!

He's really good in 1v1s, but he needs items to do so. He has a weak early game, as he has almost no laning pressure unless he all ins, and, even then he's beaten by a lot of champs. The meta is early-game based; Noc is bad in top lane vs the current meta @ top.

Jglin, I don't have problem with his clearing. A lot of champs just outperform him right now. He's a diver/sustained fighter, and he's similar to XinZhao Aatrox . All those champs are just being outperformed. Need diving? Tanks do it way better. A lot of hypermobile champs can pull it off too. The divers don't have much mobility, other than their 1 diving ability. After they go in, they can't go out, and they can be kited easily. What is Nocturne's forte? His splitting is average, his dueling is good(but once again, item reliant(Warwick )), his diving is outperformed, his clear speed isn't incredible, and, he can't even go for a full dueling build, as he has to go tanky to survive due to being a diver. His kit isn't super focused for dueling either, which is one of the reasons why he NEEDS items to duel well(unlike Fiora Aatrox who have innate dueling-based abilities, so they are better off than Noc)

any champion is good if you just take the time to learn them instead of relying on someone else's opinion. Yeah there are other variables to consider, but a good player is a good player IMO

Ok thanks :D

Ok sure but why1 votes

The first time I played Nocturne, I thought, "Oh, what the hell is this stupid, unplayable champ?"

The second time I played Nocturne, I thought, "Oh, THAT'S how his W works!"

Now he's my main with the Eternum skin. He OP.

Nocturne item 1419 item 3022 item 3742 item 3156 item 1001 item 3153

be sure to max E first

E? Are you kidding? You mean Q right..

Ok sure but why1 votes

Nope, I'd rather have my bitches screaming for the whole TWO seconds than have an extra 20 AD.

Sworeclipse1 votes

But E scales off of ap... You know that right?

Ok sure but why1 votes

Yea, but they get a two-second fear that you can use to just make them sad.

His biggest problem is that he is an assassin who can only get on squishies using his ult and then has no way to get away. Akali Fizz Katarina Leblanc Khazix for example can all jump on the back line and jump right back out. But Nocturne goes in and stays in, problem is he isn't tanky enough to last long enough to do much. His W is supposed to help but doesn't shield vs autos and you aren't guaranteed to block the spell that does the greatest damage.

On top of that his only CC is a fear(E) and fear got a huge nerf a while back. Plus it is a tether and like every new champ lately has a blink or dash to get out of tether range. If you does hit the fear you aren't likely to pull off a gank or live long enough to kill anything in a team fight.

A couple months ago I asked this question, and people said he was balanced; in a good state. I think that was before devourer left.

He's okay, there are other picks that are better than him right now, but you could definitely make him work. His ult has an immense pressure. If you can gank right with him, you'll be able to carry all of your lanes. He does best as a tanky bruiser (I can be wrong on this one). Think of him as the TF of the jungle, but with less burst.

he still has one of the most powerfull ultimates in the game if played well, but he´s really hard to learn if you want to play him as a tankinitiator. for the usual "hur-dur-assassin" gameplay he´s a fairly weak pick, as he´s not that overwhelming when snowballing compared to other champs in that line of work and he´s not that easy to start snowballing with.
