Why so many people think they are entitled to climb?

You are not. So stop complaining about your team holding you back. The only player that you have in your every game is yourself. So you are the only person actually capable of preventing you from climbing. People seem to think that they can just play like everyone around and that should take them to higher division. No. Thats not how it works. You have to play on average a lot better than your peers. Otherwise you dont deserve to climb. You want gold? Play like gold. It will take you a lot of time but you will make it eventually. Wanna make it faster? Play like plat. Wanna make it even faster? Play like diamond. Cant do that? Then dont complain about how long it takes you to climb.
