Yet Another Patch Further Killing Supports

The pre-season was a good time for support players. The ardent meta was over and all types of supports felt like they made an actual impact in the game. For the first time since mid-season six, tank supports were as viable as their caster counterparts. Then you began to take everything away. Runes, items, and passives geared toward supports began to be nerfed or ripped away entirely (nerf to HP on relic, removal of bandit passive, removal of celestial body, nerf to wards, nerf to support gold income, removal of top-tier support items like face of the mountain, the list goes on). And now, supposedly supports still have too much agency, despite having less then they have since the days of late season six where Zyra, Malzahar, and Miss Fortune were the top "support" picks.

Seriously? With the changes to ADC items killing most of them, supports currently have to deal with lane bullies like swain and vlad in the bot lane. Picks like Taric, for example, feel absolutely abysmal because they are just chunked out of the game entirely before they ever get a chance to scale into viability. Now you increase the gold cost of support items and take away a potion? Why not just remove the support role from the game while you are at it.

It is harder then it has been in a long time to make a serious impact on the game as a support. Entire playstyles have been completely nerfed out of viability, and this is just you kicking the role when its already on its freaking knees. Your buffs to thresh is going to do next to nothing in light of everything else.

I'm sick of my role being cut off at the ankles because some jerk in pro play decided to run a targons brace top lane or a spellthiefs in the jungle. You could figure out a creative way to prevent this (bandit passive only proc'ing when you're within a certain distance of an ally, for example), instead of just yanking agency away from a role that's always struggled to have it in the first place. Tank supports have been dumpstered, caster supports are worthless, the only truly viable supports are glorified carries pretending to be supports. Brand, Zyra, Pyke, Xerath, Malzahar, every single game. When people are taking heimerdinger bot lane over a janna or a sona, there's a problem.
