Elise the spiderling?

Am I the only one that feels like Elise has become a spiderling? Before she was my go to jungler when the mid wasn't a blue buff reliant champ, I was getting really good with her and enjoying working my way up in skill. Then this last season I was really struggling with her, I just didn't feel like I could keep up with my or the enemy team. I could land some good ganks but I could barely make a dent in my own jungle while doing so while the enemy did both efficiently. Still with good ganks I could create some powerful laners to carry me. Now I feel like with the new jungle that problem is that much worse. She just can't keep her own jungle in check and because of it the enemy also has a lot better control over the dragon. So now instead of feeling like I'm struggling to keep up with both teams with the new jungle I feel like I'm genuinely the cause of my teams losses, I just can't keep any degree of control over the map without falling ridiculously behind.

That said I've popped on Xin Zhao and Master Yi without any real research on them as champions and 1st game out did much much better in the jungle than I do with Elise. I just feel like she's trash tier right now. I'm not the best player (not even a good one really, silver 1) and I'd love good players to say I'm wrong and why but these are my current feelings on Elise.

Also for some reason when I activate her "E" on the ground it's 50/50 chance of it going off, is there anything special I have to do to get it to activate? Usually works when I press it a few times but sometimes that also means straight up and back down.
