Nerf Sona's Q because it has too much early "damage".

But J4 can be left melting all your armor and health in one shot every 10 seconds, free of charge!

I'm confused as to how these two champs/skills relate, other than them both dealing damage.

Melee vs ranged, your point is invalid.

Targeted spells are crazy good.

Notice how Karma has more level 1 damage than Sona but is ok because skillshots.

Sona also comes with sustain to help mitigate any retaliatory damage, which lets her skirmish more.

I understand where you're coming from, but most players are too narrow-sighted and tunnel-visioned to compare champs that aren't carbon copies of each other.

To amuse their habit of thinking inside the box, Sona should be compared to Nami. Nami has over double Sona's sustain, 3 damage abilities that each individually out-damage Hymn, 2 forms of CC pre-6 including a hard stun/knock-up and a more accessible and easier-to-apply slow that can potentially last a full second longer and Nami grants roughly the same speed boost on every ability instead of just 1. Finally, Tidal Wave has nearly thrice the range of Crescendo, applies another knock-up as a opposed to just a stun and 2-4 seconds of slow to boot, all whilst on both a lower cooldown and mana cost.
