Breaking META; a post for new & practicing Champs.

So i've been breaking meta since basically day1.

I know having a "standard" meta is useful to help people learn how to play but I think it merits some discussion about why META is a guideline & not a rule.

First of all I would like to point out the biggest drawback of "meta" is the increased incidents of false reporting. I think bad reports should be as bannable as rule violations. It makes players uncomfortable in-game, makes champ selection a stressful process, limits players ability to explore the game, try new things, & (LORD HELP US HE MUST BE TROLLING) make mistakes.

If you aren't making mistakes you can't learn. If you aren't learning from your mistakes you probably gonna have a bad time in League #js

Following META allows players to work on TECHNIQUE. IMO "technique" is an advanced-level skill. It is fundamental for advanced play but & I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH

Technique will not make you a better team player It will not teach you map awareness It will not teach you objectives It will not teach you lane control It will not teach you how to build It will not teach you counters & FLASH IS QUITE POSSIBLE .THE. WORST SPELL FOR NEW SUMMONERS.

.

So here's an example of a "meta" i've been toying with recently with fairly consistent results. (For all you rookies you must learn technique to be "competative", but under no circumstances are you ever, nor should you be, required to play [this champ] or pick [these spells] or use [this build] or play [this lane] or [give me all the cs or i report you]

I bought Trundle because i need an AD champ who can play top & is also versatile. I can lane any position with him except mid, depending on what kind of support i get botlane (whether it's a support class or a damage class).

Here's the build: Trundle summoner 1 summoner 6 item 2033 item 3153 item 3025 item 3046 item 3083 with two bonus slots to gear against my main target (armor, extra ad, mr, etc)

With Trundles domain spell, the ghost boost, a well place ice wall, & chomp this leaves nearly any opponent stranded in a 1v1 match. With the lifesteal & additional damage + an ult for extra resistance you can keep constant pressure on in team fights.

Now back to what NEW-B's need to focus on: PRESSURE & LANE CONTROL. PERIOD.

The point isn't to rack up 45 kills. The point to this game, if you want to be a successful player, is to maintain lane control & keep constant pressure on your opponent so you can farm & dragon & baron & get rich. That's how you win.

I know many of you pick your favorite champ & slap together a build (i do), but then you abandon lane control & pressure altogether to send 5mid in a 5v5 with no buffs, equal items, & often putting yourself on enemy turf. You might get lucky every once in awhile but that wont make you a better Champion.

And RIOT. You really need to do something about the people trying to ENFORCE meta through the report system. It's not against the rules to be new. It's not against the rules to die. It's not against the rules to lane. It's not against the rules to select a champ. It's not against the rules to pick whichever spells you want.

& It's not against the rules to play League of Legends

It IS against the rules to verbally harass other summoners. It IS against the rules to act in an unsportsmanlike manner because someone (who isn't YOU!) decides to play their champion the way they choose to. It IS against the rules to "troll" when [that guy isn't doing what i tell him to do] & then die on purpose. & It SHOULD be against the rules to file reports against summoners simply trying to play League of Legends without having to deal with somebody trying to be the "boss" and "tell these *****es how to act".

My advice is learn all 5 roles, spend some time playing each of them, find where you're comfortable, & GLHF.
