Now that Veigar's basically perma-ban in Solo Q, can we have a sensible discussion about his kit?
I'm going cut to the chase: Event Horizon is too strong and needs to be seriously looked at.
Now I know the first thing that's gunna pop out of everyone's mouth is "oh mai gad they nerfed Veigar's E y u still QQ get rekt by veig so salti", or "Veigar nat even picked at Worlds dont u know we're all Korean masters here in Gold??" But let's get past all that that for a second and consider why he's pick or ban now while maybe he wasn't before:
-
Teamfighting is much more important now than before. Whereas before Split Pushing and AFK farming like Trick2G was basically the strongest solo queue strategy, now its basically double jungle + double TP every game, with the added possibility of global ults like Tahm. Tempo and map control is way more important now because players are moving around the map faster especially with items like Dead Man's Plate, which means when a lane gets fed they have an immediate impact over the rest of the game. All this means reliable Enage/Disengage is extremely valuable (Cough Event Horizon) because it can either accelerate or decelerate the pace of a game.

You really don't need to land the Edge E anymore... It was much more important back in the day when where every champ and it's mother could instagib Veigar if he missed his Edge stun, but Assassin meta has basically died out as a result of a combination of new items and Champions, so now realistically all Veigar has to do is throw the huge circle on-top of a team and it forces the enemy team to immediately decide to commit to a fight on Veigar's terms or leave half the team to die. Also Veigar's new Q has like way more range so he's safer in that aspect as well.
-
Mobility is like actually a very real 'stat' now. Whereas before Mobility was just kind of annoying, with the introduction of fukernauts and heavy peel supports like Tahm, Mobility 'champs' are basically a class by themselves now who are only valuable for their dashes. Veigar's E erases that asset.

Cleanse is such a bad summoner. Before Heal, you could take Cleanse over ignite or something and live with it. In the current meta if you don't take Heal bot lane you just get shat on and lose.

This isn't new, but I feel like I should point out Veigar's E isn't a snare or a root it's actually a stun. 2.5 Second AoE stun with short CD makes Event Horizon possibly the best CC in the game right now, and it's on a mid lane Mage as opposed to Fiddle's fear or Rammass's taunt or Amumu's old Ult. Also it actually stops dashes unlike almost any other wall or stun in the game.

Tower Siege be so EZ now. I'm sure people have probably noticed now: when a team gets an advantage it's very easy for a team to group and start mowing down turrets. Long Range Instant Waveclear isn't as prevalent as before when mana regen grew on trees and immobile mages were the Kings of Summoner's Rift. That combined with the fact that Dragon buff be OP, and ADCs pretty much start off the game as a relevant factor as opposed to older seasons, Mages are comparatively weaker. Meanwhile Veigar's E is still strong enough to make teams think twice about charging into a turret and in general is really good at zoning off a whole lot of meta solo queue champs like

The list could go on but I'm sure I've made my point by now: The game has changed and even though Veigar's E is numerically weaker than before, it's more valueable now than ever before and could serve to be reworked... again..
My suggestion: Have the walls drop faster if nobody gets stunned by it
That way when Veigar cuts a team in half with his E, at least dodging the walls would be significant counterplay instead of watching whoever's stuck in the circle die a terrible death anyway over the full 3 seconds the wall lasts + additional 2.5sec if they run into the wall as a last ditch effort
