With Pyke soon to be released and his ultimate providing gold to his teammates, it got me thinking...

Why has this not been made into an item yet?

When a champion dies in the X, the last ally to assist also gains full kill gold and kill credit

That's what Pyke's ultimate reads, perhaps this can remain unique to Pyke, however, we can adapt it a bit for an item.

I was thinking:

When you land the killing blow to a champion or minion, the last ally to deal damage gets a split of the gold. Minions: Split 60/40 for you/ally. Champions: Kill, Assist and Bounty gold is combined and split 50/50 for you/ally.

I'm just tossing this out there to create some discussion as every support main I run into is "Waiting for Pyke to come out so I can get kills too!"

Good idea, bad idea? Why?

Unless you somehow limit this to supports only, I think that would be really broken or stupidly expensive.

A Zed or any other assassin could just build it and go about their usual killing ways while sharing gold with their team. Assassins are supposed to offer very little utility to their team, but have the ability to nuke someone if given the chance. Kha or Kat getting resets off kills and sharing that gold with an ADC just makes it harder to shut down the snowballing team.

Yeah, Pyke can assassinate people, but he only shares the gold by killing with his ult, which can be dodged, zhyonya'd, devoured out of, zilean ulted out of, kindred ulted, kayle ulted, etc. And if he uses his ult on someone who doesn't die, it's now on cooldown so no gold sharing.

With an item, it would have to have an active or something if it wanted to do the same thing, and even then you could probably still abuse it.

Lastly, supports items are generally pretty cheap, so unless you somehow tie the item to owning a gold gen item, or putting this passive on a gold gen item, then anyone could build it without much worry about it being bad. Not saying everyone would, but your top lane Maokai could build it so that if he happens to get a kill that gold might go over to the ADC or midlaner as well.
