Are they actually lesbians and if not why do people think that they are?
I just ask because I was all ready to commend Riot on having diverse LGBT Champions in the game. We all know that
is very eh... questionable in his sexuality but has Riot ever explictly confirmed that
and
are estranged ex-lovers?

Fjiordor1 votes1.: Diana and Leona are sisters. 2.: Riot has never confirmed any Sexuality at any Champion. We may know some offical pairings but besides that riot ditches this thema as it may offend some people(age restriction may go up)
ModWulf Helhammer1 votesUm....it's never even been hunted that they were sisters

Read the lore, they aren't sisters. Diana wasn't even born a Solari.

Ok sry mb. The lore got updated while we were diskussing this. They where sistersin the old Lore, but not anymore. And concerning OP's question all they have as an relationship is hatred.

They weren't sisters in old lore either, and new lore is pretty explicit in saying Diana is angry at the establishment and Leonas hatred of Diana died when she learned the celestial truth.
Also, Diana was never mentioned in Leona's lore, being made after her and all
