In what way is Malzahar GENUINELY okay?

Please, really need an answer because to me, Malzahar seems like a champion that should be despised by the balancing team.

If they removed his shield he wouldn’t be as broken

What would his passive be then?

warwiller2 votes

How about his old passive? Summoning voidlings on every third (?) spell. Maybe eventually we could get back to the sanity of old lol

What do you mean? He's a lockdown mage who heavily counters diving champion, that's the answer you're looking for?

warwiller2 votes

that's not even a correct answer

Enlighten me then

warwiller2 votes

Originally, he is a highly offensive single-target wizard who specializes in passifying individuals and draws damage over time. Now, he is a cancer. Nothing more than that.

He was never single target. What

warwiller3 votes

He's always single target, since his main damaging spells are single target. Main attribute is single-target = single-target

Jinzo Torrance2 votes

He's still single target, even more than he was pre-rework since before his W was AoE and not single target AI and he could use it without using his ultimate.

He still locksdowns (you call it pacifying?) champions with his silence and suppression and counters someone like Irelia or Zed more since they can't do anything at range and need to go in to do their job, which is in his ultimate range.

How is that answer different from mine? That he mostly does DoT is not a key feature since whether or not Malzahar would be picked in a team comp is not decided by looking at how his DoT spells would fit in it.

His W is the same spell class it used to be before when it was his passive, so he has no additional single yarget spells, and he could use it without his ultimate before.

Lockdowning is a specific type of passification in which the target is roughly immobilized. Originally Malzahar is a passifier with one lockdown spell which is his ultimate. Generally, his spells are oriented towards passification since he wards of enemies with his damage level and continuity and affects them.

In compositions character is important in deciding correct hero's, in this case damage over time is required for applying high amounts of damage without precise speed.

He's a high damage wizard who controls targets and engages them over a period

Lockdowning is a specific characteristic of his skill and not descriptive of his whole character, and anti diving is also a limited skill also dependent on his ultimate whereas he has far greater powers.

Also, if you're talking about current Malzahar, I didn't see the word cancer.

Given that his old W is now tied to a single target spell he lost one of his AoE spells, his new passive also is not a single target spells so he lost an AoE spell to gain a spellshield, therefore he's more single target focused than before.

The cooldown on his Q and W got reduced by a lot (-3s on Q, -6s on W) so he can still ward off enemies by using Q and letting the W Voidlings deter enemies from simply walking at him, the damage on Q may be a little lower but it still hurts squishy once he has some AP, same for W even though it lost %max health damage it gained a .2 ratio and some base damage.

Yes, but Malzahar is not picked because he brings DoT to a team, he's picked because he can push fast, brings a silence and a suppression and has a spellshield to defend himself.

He's a high damage wizard who controls targets and engages them over a period

Yes, even though later in the game he doesn't need to wait to R someone since his team will bring all the damage.

Lockdowning is a specific characteristic of his skill and not descriptive of his whole character, and anti diving is also a limited skill also dependent on his ultimate whereas he has far greater powers.

His all character boils down to a spellshield, a long-medium range silence and a suppression, his E and W now are just what he uses off CD on enemy champion who get into range, his E is still iconic to him but it's in no way an important part to how he plays in a teamfight, he just peels his ADC and himself, his E is just a generic magic damage over time spell when used on a champion, his W almost non-existent ourside of lane.

Also, if you're talking about current Malzahar, I didn't see the word cancer.

It's not like the old Malzahar wasn't cancer to play against, it just wasn't a braindead balance mess like this one turned out to be after a guy with 7 games on him decided to reworked him.

False reasoning! Losing an aoe spell (which was quite diverse and synchronized) doesn't mean replacing it with a single target spell, which it wasn't, especially when you specify that the replacement is a spellshield, and not a "target" or "offensive" which coincidentally you also said.

So he is mainly a pacifier not a lockdown wizard, since only one spell is a locksdown. Of course, he's still a pacifier but after the philosophy of cancer since his spells are infected enough to leave a colony of bird flu viruses happy. And he's not as strong in the art since he lacks the mobility of Null Zone which allows him to control area better.

Dot is a main part of his character, so he is picked frequently for this specific skill which contributes ti a higher offense while slower in orchestration. By sane ppl of course.

Controlling and long term engaging is achieved by his fluent cc and extremely high dot spells (originally) which are articulated by all his spells not just his ultimate. Now it's cancer.

He is a powerful stimulator with long term damage. Now it's the same but add cancer. It boils down to cancer.

He is articulate wizard with a specific theme which is a pacifier with high but slow damage

The correct answer was cancer

Unless you're talking about the real Malzahar

in the same way a lot of the cancer these days is ok

Balance team doesn't know what to do with Malzahar.

His W is at a point where it can't be nerfed or buffed because it'll become useless or cancerous respectively.

His E has infinite damage potential by making resetting abilities spammable.

His R will be complained about no matter how much it is nerfed. It could heal an enemy and they'd still bitch about being suppressed.

They have no idea what to replace his shield with because it was created with R as its reason for existence.

His Q got a damage nerf. People will bitch about the silence anyways. And if they buff the damage and get rid of the silence, they'll bitch about the poke damage, so they'll nerf the damage. But its used for resetting E anyways, so whatever... Until they bitch about E damage and get the reset removed as well as the bounce and even the mana sustain cause they'll say its unfair for him to have it while most mages don't. predictions

They never understood the old Malzahar.

They hyper-focused on his most identifying abilities instead of his flexible & adaptable features.

True.

You don't know the balancing team then

Well, maybe he is a remnant of his former self surrounded by cancer. Perhaps that is more accurate.
