@Riot Any news about Malphite?

There are a lot of champions that deserves a rework and one of them is Malphite. Malphite is by far one of the oldest champions in the game. They were the first few champions I saw and wanted to play. Sadly they suffer a stale gameplay and were lacking behind many other champions even those who were old alongside them.

One of the few problems of this champion is what I like to call an "R" champion. Meaning they are not really a champion throughout a game and is a completely one-dimensional champion when they hit level 6 and have R up for any teamfight.

Now some may say "Then isn't X and/or Y like that too?". Although other champions can be said to be in the same position, Malphite is by far some of the ones that completely stands out with this problem. Alongside their other abilities in their kit, they basically don't do much in a game and mainly have to have R up for everything after a certain point. Even champions that revolves around their R being a core part of their gameplay doesn't have this much of a standout.

Don't have R? You're essentially a useless rock. Have R, but miss everyone? Report this rock. Don't have R and is trying to teamfight? Just a useless rock.

It's not to say they are completely useless as a champion in teams, but they are so revolved around having R up to do much of anything that it essentially makes them nothing, but an R key and/or a meatshield. Sure they have have been "buffed", but for me and perhaps a lot of people, those were nothing but glue trying to hold the rock together.
