New board idea: Champion balance.

Balancing champions is pretty much impossible. And considering the number of champions i think it could easily take up a whole board on it's own. Maybe with some rules on how threads should look like.

Champion icon, role Problems: Possible solution ideas: If i were do it:

Example: Taric , support Problems: 1.: Extreme mana usage. No comment required. 2.: Stun takes very long to land, and has low area. Most ADC, and support are unstunnable without flash unless they are seriously noob. Supports either outrange it, or tanky enough to take it. From ADCs there are exatly 2 Varus Jinx who has no easy escape from it, and 1 Ashe who has hard escape. All other are easily jump/teleport/charge away. In general he is worthless on lane like 99% of the cases, and can't give real protection from assassins in teamfight either. 3.: Ult takes damn long to go out giving easy escape for enemy, or more than enough time to kill key targets.

Solution ideas:

  1. Lover mana cost on his heal, or/and increase healing amount, or give mana regen skill such as his old passive.
  2. Make it longer distance, or give Taric extra movement speed while casting it, or make it instant, or close to instant to land.
  3. Remove the effect from casting, or make it faster to land, or make it 2 phased.

If i were do it: Heal start on 5 charge. Further ranks increase healing done/charge, and mana cost up to 80hp/charge for 110 mana. Right now it's kinda best to keep it on rank2 for easy spamming. Stun would land instantly, and last a bit longer (1.5, 1.75, 2, 2.25, 2.5), BUT stun duration would spread across all target it hits. So if you hit a champion, and 3 minion, then all of them get 25% duration of the whole. If you hit both ADC, and support, and none other, then they get half duration both. Ult. Would work as it is, but enemy would only see it in the last half second of the casting.

Soooo, just a second gameplay forum?

Also, Riot attempted a forum in which posts were strictly limited to positive criticism and feedback regarding the game.

It failed.

It wasn't limited to strictly positive.

Up and Downvotes aren't ment to be used as "I like/hate this" but as an "this is relevant/irelephant to the section", but players use them just to downvotes what they don't like without actually saying what they don't like about it.

Too many threads in G+ had comments like this:

  • "Where's the downvotes button?"
  • "You don't need it, if you don't like something just say it"
  • "I can't express myself without it, put it back"
  • "Tell us what you don't like so it can be improved"
  • "I don't want to tell you, I just want to downvote"

People aren't saying what they don't like and G+ wasn't a place to go "REE TALIYAJ OMFMBBQOKBROKEN" (Go easy there Yasuo), it was ment for actual discussion that normal Gameplay would downvotes to tell and back because they don't like them but won't say what they don't like.

Not positive criticsm, and feedback. I would prefer "constructive". Instead of saying, that this champion is *hit like some politican. You say, that this champion has these problems, and you have these ideas to fix it.

Also gameplay is very wide. It includes the summoner spells, options, script usage, "runes", masteries, bans, roles, map, and of course champions. By your logic there should be only 2 boards: League of Legends, and offtopic. Because all current boards can be put under one or another.

pretty sure balancing champs is much easier than riot seems to make out.

It would be if the champion pool didn't expand by 4 new ones every year plus whatever old champions they decide to recreate.

And i guarantee, that it isn't. If it were, then other similar games could do it, but they rarely can, and those, that can don't release new sides to play with multiple times a year.

With current numbers creating near perfect balance would take a few years of adjusting without any rework, or new champion release.

Also they aren't really bound to it. The system let everyone take anything, and give ban chances. Something seriously strong? Ban it, or play it.

And probably most important part is the profit. Release new super OP champ, and lots of people who don't have blue will buy for RP. Many of them chose it to be new main, and more likely buy skins. Same with reworks. It makes old champion popular as hell, and more people might buy skin to their new "main".

Yuumi for example isn't exactly in the super op category, but it's a damn rare kind. There are exactly 2 protector champ in the game with her added, that has no AD synergy in some form.

Janna Shield gives AD. Making her best used with heavy ad ratio champ. Lulu Shield gives magic damage/attack. Making her best used with high attack speed champ. Soraka She is the other protector, that has no AD synergy. It doesn't matter who is strong in the team to win the teamfight she can protect it at full capacity.
