Galio and his issues

I absolutely love the champion Galio. Though there's a very clear reason he's the least played champion in League of Legends. HE'S TOO SITUATIONAL.

With any other champion, you can just pick up and play them (possibly even main them). But with Galio, it's really hard to because he's so reliant on the enemy team being magic damage. Full AP and full tank both work, just not nearly as well and not even worth picking up.

He's also very easily counterd with champions that have hard cc on autos (Voli, Hecarim, Udyr, Nautilus) as they all cancel his ult on aa, making him useful for only a last pick in draft pick. This reason makes him more situational than he already is, to the point where picking him against the wrong opponents makes him useless. In blind pick, he's even more useless as you don't know who your enemies even are!

I'd love to start a discussion on how Galio could be adjusted to the "damage dealing cc tank" he was meant to be.

Yeah, you're right. I'm surprised someone nailed the issue correctly. I was prepared for some bullshit about his mana pool.

How to fix it? Rework his ult/kit so it does something else. His ult is OP.

Once played a game where our Galio was up against Blitzcrank and RekSai.

Yea not a single ult lasted for more than half a second lmfao but we still won.

Shouldn't all champions be somewhat situational? Isn't that the goal of balance— for every champion to be viable in all situations, ideal in a few, and somewhat weak at times? Galio's underplayed because so many people believe that he's weak. News flash: he's not. His winrate tends to be very close to 50%, though it fluctuates due to his low pick rate. Galio works wonders against any champion that uses damage over time effects or relies mostly on magic damage. He's comparable to pre-rework Gragas in that he has natural tanking tools, along with good damage, poke, and utility. His waveclear is comparable to that of a siege mage like Ziggs or Xerath if you build enough AP/MR, yet he's one of the most durable champions in the game if you aren't against 5 AD opponents.

His only real weaknesses are his early game reliance on melee autoattacks and low sustain before he gets Chalice. After he gets enough mana regen to poke/waveclear with Q consistently, he can farm and trade extremely well, and his ultimate is a true game-changer if used correctly (for example, not when the enemy Blitzcrank or Hecarim has his E activated).

I sincerely hope Riot doesn't try to perform a "Xerath-style" rework on him to boost his popularity because he's perfectly playable as-is (whereas Xerath was extremely clunky) and his passive is borderline overpowered. I'm not saying that Galio is OP, mind you; I'm saying that the amount of damage Galio obtains by building defensively is amazing.

If you played doom the game mode not to long ago. Gailo was one the op doom bots. If you played with Gailo you saw he had a taunt circle that pop then did damage. I think Gailo would be a lot better. If every 3rd Q he hits on a CHAMPION or jungle camps the next Q will do the taunt thing. This upgrade will make Gailo a better support or and Jungler.
