Yorick ult idea

I just watched "Stranger Things", which is outstanding. It gave me an idea for a reworked Yorick ult (Riot has been saying they felt his ult was too generic but had so much thematic potential).

Yorick channels an ult for a couple of seconds. After the channel, enemies and allies within a certain radius are transported to the netherworld ("The Upside Down"). The netherworld is identical to summoner's rift except that it would not have minions, towers, monsters or any other objectives and would be given a creepy coloring. It's a dead world and it debuffs enemies slightly (maybe applying grievous wounds, or applying a slight movespeed slow (say 15%), or eliminating cooldown reduction, or maybe draining 0.5 percent of max health per second). A portal forms on nearby terrain, which temporarily allows champions to move between the netherworld and Summoner's Rift. After a span of time (maybe 30 seconds), the portal closes. Any enemies or allies who remain in the netherworld die. For the duration of the ult, Yorick may enter and exit the netherworld after a brief delay by pressing 'R' (that is, he is not forced to use the portal).

Strategically, Yorick can remove enemies from a fight by ulting them into the netherworld. He can guard the portal to prevent people from leaving the netherworld. Or suppose his jungler comes to do a gank but then the enemy jungler counterganks. Yorick could ult his jungler and enemy to the netherworld, forcing the enemy jungle to go through the portal to help out, thus buying yorick and his jungler time.

If you've seen "Stranger Things," then this will make sense to you.

Thoughts?

This would be incredibly busted and incredibly heavy on the servers to have to manage 2 maps for the same game. Also, the potential to instantly murder any number of people is far too powerful.

You wouldn't actually have to code it as two maps. You could make champions in one world invisible and invulnerable to champions in the other world and visa-versa, while using color filters to make the netherworld look like a different version.

Channel time and area could be tuned to keep it from being op.

i kinda like that idea. i like the concept of Yorick and just think his play is just to boring for me as Yorick and the enemy. but to add on to your idea make his ult a two way, if he ults the enemy they disappear and if you ult a team mate it still does what it does now so you can ult your fed hyper carry KogMaw and fight 6 vs 5 or ult their fed Yasuo and make him disappear from the team fight. and fight 5 vs 4.

My problem is that if you use a Orianna and item 3157, then she can shielf you, have you flash in, ult and zhona, then she ult. Then you can just ult out if you build enough tank and your team has a 5v0 to take whatever you want until they escape the nether.

Not to mention trying to fight that Nether dragon low level...

Sounds too gimicky and hard to balance. Theres too little counterplay. Its awsome but not just for league.

I had an idea just like that, but people called it too op.

Ok, first I just finished watching that show and it was amazing. I loved it. I really hope they end up making a Season 2.

I like the theme of the ult, like "sending" someone away, but on that large of a scale it could end up being really gimmicky and unfair (like mentioned below)

I can see something similar to it, on a much, much smaller scale being possible to balance and having fairness to it.
