Why not make Vayne's Silver Bolts Physical Damage?

Since Vayne's Silver Bolts do 8% max health true dmg, wouldnt the best way to balance Vayne just make it physical damage? That way tanks can counter her, and she can still scale well into late game with Last Whisper and possibly Black Cleaver?

Of course maybe the passive can be buffed to do like 12% physical instead of 8% true damage or something.

I still think it is hilarious how this forum's main complaint about Vayne is the one ability she has that is perfectly fine.

Because if it were physical damage and tuned to still be effective against tanks it would instantly reduce soft targets into a fine red mist.

The point of %HP damage is to keep an ability relevant at all stages of the game without making it absurd early when HP values are low. The point of True Damage is to keep an ability relevant against hard targets without exploding soft ones.

If Vayne did flat true damage that scaled with bonus AD she would hyper-carry even harder.

If Vayne did %HP physical damage then either her niche as a tank-buster would get gutter-stomped or her ability to evaporate soft targets would get insane.

Vayne's W isn't what makes her strong. Most of her damage is physical. Silver Bolts is just gravy that helps tie her identity and niche together.

Most of her damage is physical.

People find it hard to believe this. I'm not sure they realize that if Vayne did more true damage than physical, it would take about 30 autoattacks to do all your health in true damage, depending on how much health you built (since there's some flat true damage).

That's not the point. No other ADC has this. If Vayne right clicks a tank 3 times and Tristana right clicks the same amount who will do more damage? It's fine if one ADC can outclass another at DPS as they are different champions and perform differently at different stages of the game, but the problem is this extra damage is % true damage!

That's the problem

Vayne is a tank shredder, of course she's going to do more damage to tanks. That's her intended purpose.

That's like asking who will do more damage to a squishy target, Zed or Nautilus.

If they use their entire kit, it's entirely possible for Tristana to deal more damage to Vayne than Vayne would deal to Tristana.

Well, if the Tristana takes the same amount of time as Vayne to hit a target thrice with the same items, then Tristana is obviously not taking advantage of her massive attack speed steroid.

Not really a good comparison, since Tristana should be able to get about 4-5 hits in the amount of time it takes for Vayne to land 3 with the same items.

Vayne's issue has never really been her true damage. Her mobility. stealth and knockback were always more problematic and they aren't even that bad against organized teams.

Vayne excels at dueling and chasing down enemies. Don't give her the opportunity if you can avoid it.

It is a way for an ADC to do damage. That is the purpose of ADCs. As it is, Vayne does not do a significant amount more damage than other late-game ADCs (and, in fact, does less damage in certain situations than other ADCs). There is nothing wrong with her W.

If Vayne did not have a 2 second CD mini-dash, a self-peel with optional stun, and a spam invis, she would just be another one of those "immobile ADCs that deals damage with abilities somehow but always dies so who cares." Most people on this forum wouldn't even know what her W even did.

Again, somehow this forum has obsessively latched onto the one ability out of four that is just fine. I have no idea how. You had a 3/4 chance of hitting a semi-broken ability if you just put them up on a dart board and threw something at it.
