No my MMR isn't low. I'm in promos to gold 3 and I get a multiple silvers on my team? One guy is silver 2. I look both of them up and they both have about a 40% win rate with about 15 games played. Is this a joke? So in my gold 3 promos I have to win with silver 2 people with 40% win rates. Meanwhile the entire enemy team is either gold 3 or gold 2. Great game. Amazing matchmaking.
The Silver 2 player in question was Gold 3 last season and hasn't played much since. Placements dropped him to Silver 2, but he's probably still got roughly Gold 5 MMR. But since he doesn't play much, he's rusty and losing a fair bit. He won't make it out of Silver, but it will take another 10 games for his MMR to drop the rest of the way down to that level.
Even if this example weren't easily explained, one bad match out of 100 (or even 10) doesn't make matchmaking terrible. Players are just too damn inconsistent; even with perfect matchmaking, 1 out of 10 games would still be mess because of players having good/bad games and teams having uncoordinated compositions.
In the meanwhile on my silver 1 promo. I notice one of my teammates has 4 wins 27 losses, season 5 plat, and disconnects remakes around once in 3 games or feeds to high heaven.
I facepalmed so hard when I realised what is going to happen next.
Because you were designed to lose that game. The match making is rigged.
When confronted with something as complex and ambiguous as the matchmaking system, one should resort to using Occam's Razor; the notion that the simplest explanation is the most plausible:
The matchmaking system is a red-hot dumpster fire and Riot should be ashamed of it.
The matchmaking in this game is truly cancer inducing.
This just happened to me. I got someone clearly belonging in Bronze/low silver doing their placements in my promo games for G2.
System is broke, why am I getting people doing placements in my promos?
2 Divisions isnt that bad, consider the fact that most of them were mostly probably in their promos for Gold 5 (AKA pretty much gold.) They are as much gold 5 as you are smack middle Gold in gold (gold 3.)
In fact there were almost twice as many plat 5s as Silver 1s (With the exception of 1 silver 2 that mustve been a duo.) Which i wouldve been much more annoyed about being in gold 4.
In fact 1 division outside i would consider pretty decently balanced (as in games where people are promoting and demoting. If you got plat 4s, and silver 2s often though.
playing within 1-2 teirs of current is a dream of mine - its even worse in flex
because A) the difference between Gold V and Silver is frankly borderline nonexistent, and B) with only 15 games played its 100% possible for someone to be in a lower rank than their mmr
Because silver and gold is essentially the same. I've been in gold for the last 3 seasons and I frequently lose against silvers.
The silver guy was actually at 1575 MMR. You were at 1550 MMR at the time. He was higher than you.
Just read the MMR. Other stats are irrelevant.
Also there was only 1 silver on your team.
Because winstreak => forced 50% winrate. Giving you bottom of the barrel till you rack up the losses
The system matches you with what it believes is also your MMR.
In this case, while you may be gold, the system calculated that you are a indeed a silver. If you keep wining, the system will change it up and match you with better players
Matchmaking wants to fuck you once in a while and indirectly forces you lose in order for you to play more games.
This is really the best way to solve this problem. Buy or torrent this guide. It helped me and my friends.
I had a problem with this a long time ago as well. In my Gold 5 promos, I was getting platinums on the other team. Then everyone was like 'Platinums are just silvers anyway.'...

Because they are duoing with their "ultra good gold 5 friend" in hope that they are going to get out of silver. But all they do is drag their friend down to Silver 1 and feed, feed, feed, feed. And then that silver 1 friend remains stuck there and blames their teams. Im encountering Platinums and Silvers in the same team, same RANKED game. Why? Have no fucking clue, but if i ran into a silver last season when i was platinum, i'd flame the hell out of that player for even a minor mistake. Just hate them, idk why :/
If they're ranked silver with that few of games, their mmr is high - so it's not you having low mmr but the opposite. Also, they are probably smurfs or people climbing back to gold or plat if they are mid/high silver after so few of wins. Thus, you are in fact probably playing with peers. Although there is also the chance they got carried half their early games and their mmr is just majorly inflated. If so and that's the teammates you typically get, join the club.
I had to win against Plats with Bronze/Silver on my team ( last season ranking) on my team in my provisionals. Had a 40% winrate and got placed in Gold V from my last placement of Silver I where I won 60% of my provisional games. I'm not sure how match making works anymore. This was last season by the way, I haven't played this season.
Someone is probably duo'd with the silver and trying to boost them.

I'm a Plat 2 and I had a Gold 4 in one of my games once. He was duo with someone (which Idk why, he did terrible) but I still don't want him in my game.
When I was silver 1 I was already getting Gold 3-Gold1 players. Maybe they're just on win streaks with high mmr?
Because they have so few games played.
By default, starting MMR is around 1500MMR (Up from 1200, new accounts start around silver-gold division boarder unlike in the past where they started in bronze-silver)
So, they do qualify to get into gold games based on their MMR since they have so few games played. You'd need around 30 straight defeats to fall from 1500MMR to 1200MMR.
Don't worry bro. I just had top lane pantheon sit at our blue afk for almost ~10 minutes and just trash talk the team. The taric ran it down mid ( in the bot lane ) then rage quit after the surrender vote he started was denied three times. Finally, the mid brand refused to group and said he needed to farm minions the whole game cause he got shoved out by the other mid so he refused to group. All of this in a single game and ya know what....they will continue to ruin games for others because Riot refuses to take action on these types of people. Three trolls in a single game. This is how silver normally is. Riot believes these people are perfectly ok.
I have ALWAYS believed that the "promotional" tier of matchmaking is ALL ENCOMPASSING, whereas typical ranked matches typically try to keep you within whatever ELO or skill level you are.
