Just going to say this once: the uproar over Rift Scuttler is bullshit.
Title. If you actually look at how much gold and XP Scuttle now provides, it's about the same as a regular camp, scaling up. During the first few levels,~~ it's worth less than a regular camp~~. (EDIT: It's just straightforward the same, sorry!)The only big differences are:
- it gives a spot of vision
- it restores health and mana instead of "draining" it.
- it's equally accessible to both teams (and therefore potentially creates conflict which one team could capitalize on but is also unreliably available)
- It takes a touch longer to clear
Raising the respawn timer, (the followup) is perfectly reasonable. They don't really need to do more. It wasn't OP, or just "whoever takes it wins," it was just a bit too frequent for a mini-objective.
Now it's an actual camp instead of "honeyfruit that takes longer to use."
True, duelist jungles got a boost, but to say that they're the only choices or some such is massively disingenuous. Scuttle isn't really worth contesting in any way until after it's respawned for the first time at least, and you can still probably ignore it until the second or third respawn. Assuming both junglers are fervent scuttle clearers, first respawn is about 5 minutes in (after level 2, you'll note) and second is 7-8 minutes in.
Fair warning, I probably won't be responding in the comments.
EDIT: I had extra time and did respond a little.
