How should I go about improving a role I absolutely suck at?

No, I really mean suck at.

Context: I can jungle, I can support, I can adc, and I can even mid so-so and hold lane, but I suck ass at top. I suck so bad at top, my friend's friends reported me. Random people report me for sucking. I follow advice, do what I can, but I absolutely just suck at that lane.

So how should I get better? Coop games aren't great for learning anything past basic mechanics. Should I play normal games and risk feeding and pissing people off? Should I only play with friends that I'm bound to piss off when I feed no matter what advice I'm given? Should I get a trainer (lol)? Should I give up and hope I never have to top lane ever?

I really don't know what to do. I'm bad, like Trash IV bad at top lane.

Only way to get better at this game is to play it.

I'm just worried at playing at other people's expense :/

Should I not care at all and just grind the role out?

Just go into the game hoping to have fun bro. Don't go into it stressing you're going to lose... if you do you have already lost.

... No wonder you're called senpai.

That's pretty solid advice.

If you play a certain champion well, just say fuck the meta and play them top. I like to play top, but when I do I play people like Cassiopeia Azir and Lissandra . It's cuz I enjoy playing mages and I'm way better at them. You could also just play bullshit champs like Fiora I guess lol. But just try to find something that works for you. It's always better to have an off meta champ somewhere they don't usually go and DO WELL than having an in meta champ where they belong totally sucking. If it's just the lane and the ganking and how much of an island it is, I'd just say you need to work on your farming, dueling, trading, warding, and splitpushing. It really just takes a lot of experience to do well, but I also think that watching people play who are good at the game can help a lot too, and some streamers even give tips which is nice.

Watch a lot ALOT of stream and try to understand what they are trying to do. I learnt a lot from Soax HotshotGG Dyrus

Take my advice with a grain of salt, because I can't say I'm that good myself. But when I was learning to play, I spent a lot of time watching videos and reading guides to get my mind around basic strategies and builds. For example, when I was learning Sona, I went to youtube and searched for Sona gameplay videos, searched for Sona guides, anything. And when I went into games, I just did what they did until I got the hang of it. Yeah, you're going to have a few bad games, and if you're really "feeding" you should start by playing super safe until you get used to the role/champ. Only once you're used to the process should you start experimenting.

tl;dr - Do some research and stick to normals for now. Play safe and go slow, there's no rush.

Play Mundo. Learn to farm with cleavers. Profit.

Honest? Play more of it and realize where you suck at it. Maybe you need to take different champs up there than you normally do?
