How exactly do I get an S rank in specific roles?

I've been experiencing this issue for awhile now, and I've heard its especially true for jungle mains, but I played a game with a top garen, and me as jungle xin zhao. I went 8/0/2, he went 4/0/3. I upgraded my trinket to farsight while he did not upgrade, neither of us had upgraded boots, I helped him take most of top lane, had several successful ganks, was sated and had rageblade pre 20, took every objective save baron, lost none, and they surrendered at 20. I got an A+, and he got s. What I'm wondering is, How do you achieve s rank in specific roles? just would like an intuitive checklist of what it takes to get s.

Your grade is based on your performances percentile compared to all other players on that particular champion in that particular role.

Galio ADC for example probably wouldn't need to do very good in absolute terms in order to get an S rank (since no one does this, and odds are the majority of people who do, don't do very well, hence even having a positive kda would probably put you in the top percentages of performances), wheras even really good performances in absolute terms on popular champ/role combos can produce A's instead of S's since top players have done completely bonkers performances on them. (I've been 0/0/23 on Janna only to get an A+ before. [Lots of other metrics matter too like warding, but it's easier to refer to kda.])

Ones rank/mmr is not taken into account, you're graded compared to all performances, ranging from the performances of sub-30 newbies, to top tier Challenger players. (That said, challenger players are like 0.001% of players, and most of them aren't playing any specific champ/role combo. An S+ grade requires you to 'only' be in the top 2% of player performances, so it's not nearly as hard as it might first sound.)

It's not just your individual performance, but it's also based on how others play with that champion. I don't know if league/rank/mmr etc are also taken into account.

I have had full builds, good k/d, towers, Dragons, help other lanes, and walked away with a B or A. I have been trying for 3 days now to get my box that has no key and I cant get it. I give up.

As Devil Dog Gamer said, more kills, more assists, low deaths, CS, tower kills, basically anything that can be represented as clear cut numbers counts towards it. It is also based off the performance of other people playing that champion in that role. So for example, if you went Evelynn mid and went 20/0, you'd have a higher chance of getting an S than if you got the same score with Evelynn jungle.

I think the key is to remain consistent all match long. There's times when I'm doing extremely well by mid game, and i know if the game was to end at this exact minute, I'd be celebrating an S rating. I'm killing it on CS, have an amazing k/d/r and my team is knocking down towers like Stephen Curry. Let the game drag on another 10 minutes, and your CS/min begins to decrease, you may still have low deaths, but you haven't accrued as many kills like you did by mid game, assists remain the same, etc.

I imagine it like a speedometer. If i'm going to go 40mph, i better remain at 40mph or better. If i start off 60 mph, i better finish at 60mph or better.

I believe they are all right.

It took a lot of effort in matches for me to get an S as J4 top, Karma sup, Braum sup, Aurelian Sol mid (shocked me), and Kayle.

I think i have a few more S ranked champs but i don't remember who XD

Its really hard to say exactly what makes you get an s, because riot could measure practically anything. Riot probably keeps it a secret because it could be similar to how they measure lp gains/ losses.

I got an S Malphite today (first time played ever btw) top 8/0/9. And guess what was in my chest? A Malphite champion shard. Ironic isn't it? Anyways, a few weeks ago I went 36/8/9 Teemo top. I was expecting an S. But I got an A-. Maybe because I didn't have as many assists? Who knows. A few days ago, I got an S+ Corki 16/3/8. Still wondering about the Teemo game lol...

CS, Kills, Assist, Tower Assist, Wards bought (Pink), and overall kill contribution counts.

I'm thinking CS might be the single most important factor. I played a game about a week ago, where the other teams mid didn't connect so they just opened. I just afk farmed top until my team won or they FF'd, since at that point their top went AFK too. Because I just stayed top I had by far the highest CS in the game, and got an S with a 0/0/0 score.
