Question about A-Moving

Hey all, As a lower level player I've been trying to incorporate things such as A-moving and Target Champions only into my gameplay to try and help with various things. My question is this:

Is there a way to Attack move where you attack the closest champion, without having to click directly on them? Like if I'm kiting back through enemy minions (for whatever reason) can I attack move and have it target the champion chasing me instead of the closest unit (which may be a minion)?

Thanks, Kuthillick

Yes there is an option in the settings that lets you target champions only, it's under abilities and summoner spells target champions only.

If there are no minions or towers just click A and left click

Attack move does ignores target champions only. It has two modes (set in the options menu): target closest enemy to your champion and target closest enemy to your mouse cursor.

Really attack move is only important for chasing into bush or other cases where you lose line of sight. Over using it will cause your overall click accuracy to drop over time. I used in a lot in season 8, and had it bound to a button on the side of my mouse that I would press with my thumb. Eventually I noticed I was doing worse with things that could not be attack moved (like targeted spells). I unbound it in season 9 and it took about 3-4 weeks to get back to where I was click accuracy wise before I had started using it.

For kiting there is a special set of keyboard bindings to help with kiting with high attack speed champions. Here is a link to it being discussed. You would need a gaming keyboard that allows the keys to be reprogrammed to emulate mouse clicks for it though.

Unfortunately what you want is not an option. :(

I do have some advice for you though if you're a newer player.

I would honestly advise not using a-move very much. I used to never use it, and played FAR better than I do now. Then I started because 'this will improve my winrate' but it's become a crutch, lowered my mouse accuracy, and tbh it causes mess ups, where an enemy walks out of vision, and you a-move to follow, and your character turns around to target the 'closest' enemy which is a creep.

I'd say using A-move is the easier way, and right clicking is the harder but 'right' way, where you'll actually end up growing a lot more and improving more.

It does have its uses though, such as fighting in the jungle with no creeps around, it will allow you to attack instantly upon gaining vision. That is helpful.
