Why are we STILL forced to play through a game with someone disconnected on our team?

Can we do something about this already? Please?

Just had a game where Mordekaiser gave first blood to Gnar at 0:50 and ragequit. Obviously we lost and the game wasn't even fun because we knew we couldn't win and the enemy abused the 5v4.

Ragequit after first blood. SMH.

I recommend a Dota 2 like system, where the first person to leave receives a punishment. Then after about five to ten minutes, everyone else on the team that the friendly left from can leave without fear of punishment. Now granted, that system is a bit flawed so a few kinks would need to be worked out, but it is a good idea that could be beneficial to everybody.

Because let's keep whining about it, everytime someone tries to post solutions none of them work and can be heavily abused, welcome to the nature of online gaming, it happens in every game, stop making a big deal out of it.

You can't seriously believe that there's NO solution out there to this problem, do you? Dota's already addressed the problem one way, and I'm sure there are many others you can pick from.

At the absolute very least, remove the time restriction on the surrender vote. 20 minutes is completely arbitrary, and Riot already requires an over-majority to pass the vote anyway. If "NEVER SURRENDER" folks want to complain about the vote window popping up on their screen, then make it so the window goes away once you vote. If anyone's actually concerned about "omg, team will always surrender at first blood", they shouldn't be, and they're free to play with friends who they can trust in this regard - even a duo queue makes a game surrender-proof.

Dota 2 doesn't even have a sure fire solution, it has an attempt at one but that isn't full proof either.

The goal is to prevent the AFK/DC not put a bandaid over it for the whiners who can't wait 20 minutes.

Luckily they have been working on fixing BOTH. The server roadmap goal is decreasing ping and increasing up time and stability, people are getting punished for leaving and it's being discouraged.

Whatever the fix were to be, you won't see results in a day, this stuff takes time, and it takes longer to change the game pattern of over 60million players.

It's a start, and one league has no excuse not to adopt.

I absolutely agree that Riot needs to prevent connection issues, but if that was easy, Riot would've done it by now. The things Riot can do are the "bandaids" which still help matters. I see no reason why teams need to wait until 20 minutes to put up a surrender vote. I see no reason why Riot should let ranked games start anything other than 5v5. This isn't speaking to the logistics of fixing connections, it's not speaking to player psychology, it's about making the game better to play with what tools you have atm.

No these don't solve anything, that's the goal here a solution, not kicking the problem under a rug until players get pissed off about something else relating to it like they inevitably will.

I see no reason why Riot should let ranked games start anything other than 5v5.

Because it can be abused? People leave at the right time they get a free dodge, if someone legit DC's and we have some futile attempt at anti dodgers in place were just back to where we are right now.

I see no reason why teams need to wait until 20 minutes to put up a surrender vote.

Because in ranked people are way to pent up where they would surrender at first blood, or if someone dc's for 20 seconds they would surrender and quickly move on.

A limit is in place for our own good as players.

This isn't speaking to the logistics of fixing connections, it's not speaking to player psychology, it's about making the game better to play with what tools you have atm.

What stupid statement is this?

This is entirely based around fixing connections and the player psychology, we want players to not want to dodge, and we need players to not DC, both of these are fixed by fixing connections, and making a way for dodgers to not want to dodge ever.

They get a problem exists but rehashing this same tired thread every damn day with no proposed solutions solves nothing and it's laughable people think screaming at them over and over fixes it.

Mandang01 votes

So because we can't 100% fix something, we can't do anything to make it a little bit better? That's foolish.

"Free dodge" - No, you count it as a dodge for the person who left - that should be obvious. If it counts as a dodge, it's not free.

"They'd surrender at first blood" - No, they wouldn't. Oh weird, we disagree. How ever will people determine which of us is right? Hmm...maybe they could TRY IT before they decide it couldn't work?

That statement is directed at your "stupid statement" that we can't attempt to make the system any better without wholesale getting rid of any situations in which a game is ever 4v5 (an unreasonable goal). Also, the problem isn't these types of threads, the problem is Riot doing NOTHING about it. I don't care if they can't fix it 100%, but at least freaking TRY. People wouldn't feel the need to complain if it wasn't a real problem, and if Riot wants to make the complaints go away, they should at least give the problem lip service if they're not going to DO anything about it.

You know the only thing less useful than crying about something that won't get fixed? Crying about that person crying.

Why strive for anything when perfection is unattainable?

Occams Raiser1 votes

If you think it is pissy to whine about 20 minutes X the amount of games played where it happens, you need more in your life because 20 minutes times 3 is an hour (I know you know this) that is real time wasted. I can get three late\AKF in a week no prob. that is a big deal.

Occams Raiser1 votes

untrue. I have seen that can't be abused. People just don't like to quit. Favor weighs more heavily on time wasted than efficiency. I will happily take the loss to leave. This actually not the nature of online gaming. It is unique to MOBAS and there are only a handful worth playing. THis is compared to all the other online games in history where you could leave when you want. COD. Someone is trolling.... just leave the room. ahh I feel better already.

if it was intentional, all for it

if it was part of riot's server problems by overload, only Riot can fix that

Occams Raiser1 votes

It is half intentional actually

3TWarrior1 votes

how is getting disconnected half intentional?

Occams Raiser1 votes

Thought you meant: Riot's current system is partially intentional. If you get a DC, they know their server power isn't up to snuff. They tell you to eat it for the most part.

They could put in solutions easy enough. I dont see why a bot couldnt be implemented with a difficulty ranking based on the current league of the player it replaced. It would take some work so the AI isnt abused. Least then the teams are still even and if rito is feeding we can report them

The simple solution is to get rid of the 20 minute surrender limit. This solves these issues without riot having to do anything else. If a team surrenders after one minute thats their problem/fault. At least people will not be forced to play with someone just running up mid feeding all game or a 4v5 or even a 3v5. Why this hasn't been implemented is beyond me and makes no sense. When I get into a game and a team member is running up mid on auto just feeding I will just quit and go to my other account. That is my solution now since riot wont give me another choice. I dont have 20-30 minutes to waste in a game like that.

BattyBanana1 votes

If you had the ability to surrender after 1 min, whichever team felt they were losing several minutes into the game would just surrender as to not waste time. When someone is feeding or leaves they should get punished. Wouldn't you rather play a full game with no feeders or afk's rather than a bunch of 1 minute games?

parrzival1 votes

I would rather have the enemy team surrender if they were losing than be forced to play for 20 mins with afk/feeders. AFK/Feeders are a bigger problem as we do not really know if people would be surrendering after a few mins just because they were down a few kills.
