Ranked Janna mid is trolling?

I want to play Janna mid in Ranked and I'm being called a troll for doing it, she's my favorite champion to play no matter how hard she's nerfed or buffed. I want to play her as a mid champion. So how is it then my fault when we get a Cassiopeia for support, that doesn't buy any wards or sightstone for the team, no Aegis. It's like this person who qued up for support or fill doesn't know how to support the team.

Okay, so, big whoop, I don't get a lot of kills as Janna mid, but I just like throwing tornadoes. So what if its not meta. I'm not trolling. I legit am level 7 mastery with her.

So my question is: Is the meta that locked right now? That I am not allowed to pick any champion that I want for any role? Can Ashe still support? Can Teemo Jungle? Can you top Taric ? What's the deal? Is it ONLY Janna that's not allowed to fucking mid?

I'm sorry I'm angry about this, but it used to be you could play any champ anywhere you want.

Honestly? It was never like that. Certain champions have always been generally expected to go certain places. There was never a time where any champion could go to any position.

That said if you have success with it just do it and mute the haters. Let your rank show how good of a mid Janna you are.

Not without people getting annoyed at you you couldn't. If you tried to Ashe support or Teemo jungle in season 1, people would get just at mad at you as they would today. In fact, I distinctly remember the rage being even worse in the past. I had a Janna mid one game and our ADC responded by running it down mid and wishing death and rape on her and everyone she knew. I used to have people completely leave games because you didn't pick Ezreal, Graves and Corki back in the days of the holy trinity. I could play an ADC bot, but it wasn't one of those guys, so people left. Shit has gotten way better since then.

You're just as free to play Janna mid as ever, but you are going to annoy people doing it. That has been true for the past 4 years, and it isn't changing anytime soon. That doesn't justify if people rage at you or troll because of it, but they have every right to dislike your pick.

I do just want to bring up here that your complaint is that he is playing a nonmeta support with a nonmeta build, while you're playing a nonmeta mid. If the guy raged at you, that isn't justifiable, but this alone just sounds like he did what you did. If you can do it, why can't he?

You're allowed to do whatever you want within the rules (which doesn't require meta picks), but the meta is the meta for a reason, and people will likely consider your trolling if you deviate too far from the meta. People are very prone to tilting or trolling in response to your 'trolling', and as a result you get matches along the lines of what you describe.

I've played janna mid/top/jg in normals since it can be fun, but ranked is largely about showing off your competitive abilities to win, rather than necessarily having fun. Janna's received a lot of nerfs to her solo laning over the years (ap ratios and q range off the top of my head would effect solo lane janna), so it even takes a few items before you can even clear caster minions with your Q, much less contribute meaningful damage in a teamfight or splitpush. She's really only good for the utility she offers (which is great and I do main her), which leaves your team comp in a poor place, since utility is largely the realm of the support. You're then stuck with a mostly useless support (either they're redundant and also doing utility stuff, or they're trying to build damage to make up for the lack of damage the team would otherwise have with a more meta midlaner, but as a support they're underfed and likely can't afford to do so), and your team on the whole is forced to try to cobble together a team comp that isn't totally crap.

It's not to say it could never work (perhaps in a coordinate protect the hypercarry comp), but when you're straying from the meta is strongly advised to do it either in normals or with a premade on the same page, since otherwise it's very likely you won't win for a variety of reasons.

Janna mid is good against a zed mid pick. She basically just sits there, denies him of any kills, gets little farm (because of poor aa), and denies him a kill from you lvl 6 because of your lvl 6.

She is basically the anti-assassin mid pick for when you want to ruin their kda

but being bronze 2 doenst help your case for wanting to play off-meta. cause if you want to do your own thing and play what you think is fun, first you need to be in the meta. its not even the fact that the meta is locked. its the fact that the people your playing with no matter how good or bad do want to win (atleast a little) cause its ranked. and as you said janna mid really isnt helping that. your not doing much more then if you were a support
