what champion do you main, and which one should i otp?

MrSuperCat·12/27/2016, 7:29:51 AM·1 votes·1,977 views

Im looking for a champion with these properties:

Independent (I dont mind a support, just not one like soraka whose kit is not as useful alone).

Able to play multiple roles (for maximum otp potential).

Manaless is a plus

Niche champion (this is a pretty low priority).

Some 1v2 potential, its ok if they are difficult.

Not to many bad match ups.

If I were to only ever play three champions, which three would you recommend? What champion do you otp? What are some champions with weird play styles. The only type of champions i dont really like are ones like gnar or kled, where Im at a disadvantage or cant go ham because im waiting for something i cant control, unlike mana or cooldowns which would be my fault. If any of this is flawed logic please correct me, thanks!

[slayer-jinx-wink]

P.S. If you do recomend three I'd prefer to main one, and have the other two be simpler champions to cover for bans, or other roles.

Ive made a list of every champ im considering:

camille jhin kindred ekko bard gnar braum garen master yi trundle thresh vi zed rengar katarina jayce nautilus volibear fiddlesticks riven blitzcrank tryndamere leona lee sin lux olaf udyr shen draven irelia

Recently I've discovered Karma to be a solid pick, whether it's support, mid, or top

Maokai is a solid pick top and jungle, and situationally mid and support as well. He's pretty team reliant, though, as he's a tank. You could pick up a item 3027 and be a bruiser, too. Ryze can top and mid, pretty independent, and not many bad matchups, iirc. And Yasuo fits your descriptions pretty well, but in low elos he's permabanned.

I don't have many mains myself to suggest 3 champions, but I can certainly suggest at least one!

One of my mains is Diana. She is most frequently played mid and jungle, but can sometime be played top. She isn't manaless and actually has some mana issues though, I don't find this to be that big of an issue.

She can be built many ways depending on the enemy team composition and/or what your team needs.

For a more bruiser build, item 3027 > item 3020 > item 3115 > item 3001 > item 3157 > item 3135

For a more assassin build, item 3001 > item 3157 > item 3020 > item 3100 > item 3285 > item 3089

I've even played her with with a tanky build item 3115 > item 3111 > item 3068 > item 3025 > item 3091 > item 3102

In the midlane, she has very few bad matchups. In the jungle, the matchups can vary on difficult

She's strong against:

Mid: Zed Lux Leblanc Akali Katarina Veigar Velkoz Xerath Anivia Viktor AurelionSol Fizz Talon Jungle: Kindred Nidalee Graves Amumu

Goes even with:

Mid: Brand Syndra Annie Ahri Ekko Yasuo Jungle: LeeSin Khazix Rengar Nocturne Elise

And struggles against:

Mid: Malzahar Swain Vladimir Heimerdinger Ryze Jungle: Gragas Vi Hecarim

Her abilities are pretty straightforward and she's pretty easy to play. Her QR combo can juke enemies around and she can 2v1 if ahead. She snowballs well and has great roaming potential. Her main weakness is her lacklustre laning phase and if she's behind, you'll find it rather difficult to get back into the game.

I OTP Katarina

She's alright top with most matchups. Bruisers kinda hurt. Defiantly one of the better midlaners that can go top, that aren't really supposed to. She snowballs super hard. Her team doesn't matter as much as the enemy team, but if you can kill them enough early, that wont matter either.

She is Manaless

Depending on your elo, she might get banned often. She has like a 40% ban ratio but I feel like this should fall off sometime in the future because of the recent assassin rework. I used to get her everygame pre-rework. If you team doesn't ban her, then that means she has a 20% chance of being banned right? Saying I get her 80% of the time sounds about right to me.

Only matchups i hate are Malzahar Annie or A good Cassiopeia Yasuo Leblanc Orianna

Most laners, you can kill if they make the smallest mistake. If not, you could just push them in and roam. Alot of midlaners aren't that good at early game sieges and roams. Affecting other lanes is a great way at winning more games.

I've been trying to find other champs to play in mid/top. If you're just going to play one champion, then I feel like the best ones are just braindead champs that just let you be carried because you don't have to rely on mechanics, and rely on decision and things like that. I've found that all of the other champions I've played thoughout season 6 have been champions that are pretty easy mechanically compared to Katarina . These are Amumu Lux Sona Annie Chogath . Last season if i didn't get kat, I played Annie or Fiora . Although at times, I didn't feel comfortable pulling out the fiora because I had basically just played Kat recently. I knew I would mess things up mechanically. So I would just play annie top lol

Recently, I've been interested in Riven. Kat has problems with bruisers top lane and I feel like I could just shit on them if I knew how to play Riven well. I don't know when I'm going to be able to comfortably whip her out in ranked, its gonna be a while but it will be worth it :P She could even go midlane too lol.

TL;DR **I ONE TRICK **Katarina

**IF BANNED I DODGE OR PULL OUT BRAINDEAD ** Amumu Lux Sona Annie Chogath . I've heard of other Kats that agree and pull out things like Malphite Karma Morgana A not mechanically intensive secondary is the way to go.

I WANT TO PULL OUT Riven Fiora Kassadin BUT I CANT CUZ IM BAD WITH THEM

Poppy really good as a top laner and jungler and if you play her in the support role people often don't know how to handle her. Her W stops most of the adc's dashes Lucian Caitlyn Tristana she is also very forgiving with her shield and her easy ways to proc Courage of the Collosus.

Honestly, you should try to play every champion to figure out for yourself, but a little more context would be helpful. What champions have you already really enjoyed playing? What lane is your favorite? Do you have a favorite class or playstyle?

I myself currently main Kled, though I would consider myself to have been historically an Amumu main. Very different reasons for playing each.

Kled I was drawn to because of his fantasy, and stayed because he's fun. He's got a lot of potential, he handles well both on his own and with a team, and my natural play patterns align with his.

While I understand your desire to one-trick a champion, I honestly think its more fun to jump around and play a lot of a champion for a little bit of time. I recently had a week where I played nothing but Gangplank. I suck at him. He's super fun. It was a great time.

Well if he wasn't in the dumpster at the moment I'd say Chogath, the main one he doesn't hit is manaless (huge early-game mana issues but are mitigated on first back with catalyst), can be played in four roles (although support Cho is a specific counterpick and isn't really viable in a lot of matchups). He has multiple playstyles running the full gammut from AP to full tank.

Of course, he's absolute trash right now, which causes him to have bad matchups where he otherwise wouldn't (he does have bad matchups depending on lane regardless, mostly against people who can bully hard pre-six), so perhaps wait until a rework/buffs. He is, however, an excellent counterpick to Riven.

Teemo One of the reasons I do so well with him is because he doesn't need much help from the rest of the team at all outside of a few bad matchups in lane, and even then he can sometimes overcome that with good use of his shrooms. And he an be played in pretty much any role.
