I am having an main identity crisis... Help

I have been a Rengar main ever since I bought him in Mid Season 7, and still play him to this day. I have always loved Rengar's assassin playstyle (In season 7-8) but now I seem to have an issue and I really need someone's help.

After watching Dekar173 who is essentially the best Rengar in NA he seems to never go assassin in the slightest and only takes Tank/Utility type rune. Upon asking him whether or not to be assassin Rengar it's almost always a no because it is not optimal performance.

Also from simply playing I notice that Rengar is simply outclassed by every other assassin in the game. To explain, Most assassins are supposed to get in, kill, get out. However, Rengar can not really do that full assassin build as he will more than likely die right after jumping in. But if you play Talon, Zed, Khazix, Fizz, Pyke, Lee Sin, Akali. They all have a very reliable escape. But Rengar does not. It is true that he has his W but currently there is so much damage in the game that if you cleanse W you will likely be burst immediately anyway because you are low health as an assassin.

So here is where I need help. I rarely go the old fashion assassin build and rune because it has been hard shoved into my head that assassin Rengar isn't good. Even in JG instead of top I will typically avoid dusk because it does not seem worth going assassin when the other JG will just kill me faster anyways. I no longer want to play Rengar as a sustain tank but as what HE REALLY IS. an assassin. But it seems in this meta it is not possible anymore if you want to be proficient.

Since I do not want to play for Dekar173 to coach me or whatever. can someone please explain to me why I must take tanky/utility runes instead of electrocute. why can't I be the assassin Rengar is without still being proficient. I just don't understand

You have a 55% winrate on Rengar, from your match history I gather that you're losing many games playing random champions that aren't Rengar. Rengar Top is a perfectly viable pick, the standard build is Tabis, Cleaver, Visage, Zhonyas, GA, Sterak's. Grasp and Conqueror are both viable.

The advantage of bruiser Rengar is that he can still kill squishies, while also being able to sustain damage in fights using his W.

As for Jungle, I see a lot of Korean players building full AD with either Electrocute or Conqueror.

Well first off, Rengar is more a diver and less assassin, so you should expect to pick up at least some hp. Ijustrengar used to do a lot of full damage Rengar. He has been mia for a while, but he made high diamond-master with it so you shouldn't feel limited to a tanky playstyle. A lot of his builds were jungle Rengar and he went electrocute/dark harvest, start jungle component->tiamat->duskblade->blue/red smite (get this before dusk if behind)->black cleaver->youmuus. Builds varied slightly on match up, but he went damage pretty much every game I watched.
