Simple Jayce Buff

let's talk about Jayce Jayce

First off, I'd like to acknowledge that I realize that there are a few champions in a worse position than Jayce, but I just had an idea that I think would make him a bit stronger again, and maybe move him up from his current sub 45% win-rate.

For those of you who don't know, Jayce had a nerf to his W Hyper Charge The damage was decreased from 130% at max rank, to 110% max rank

Riot justified the nerf by explaining that he shouldn't be able to dish out that much damage without the use of his hammer in close-quarters combat. I do agree with this, prior to the nerf, Jayce would be able to fire a poke, and the activate his W, and still have a high chance of killing you, which didn't make any sense, since Jayce's Hammer Stance is centered for survival, it gives you some resistance, and some self-peel to keep enemies from murdering you.

Unfortunately, this nerf has heavily impacted Jayce's damage lategame, especially if you build him bruiser, where you rely on his Hyper Charge to make up for the lack of AD. At the same time however, a powerful Hyper Charge means a full AD Jayce bursting you down while still being at a safe distance from you. However I believe there is a middle ground, and riot quoted it themselves. ** "It doesn't make the most sense that he should blow you up in close-quarters without the use of his hammer." - Riot ** Exactly. So why not do this?

Have Hyper Charge deal more damage in Hammer Stance, that way, he's forced to go all in if he wants to be able to kill the enemy.

An even safer approach is giving Jayce a similar treatment to Gnar, who was also nerfed in the same patch. for Gnar, they made it so that for Gnar would have a long cooldown on his Boomerang the more points he put into his ult, so that eventually late game he would be at the same place prior to the nerf. It would also give Jayce players a reason to put a point in his ult, which no one does unless they need the armor.

It would look something like this:

R - Transform: Mercury Hammer Increases Hyper Charge's damage multiplier on activation by 5/10/20%

tl;dr

Jayce's W was nerfed since it removed the need to transform to Hammer Stance. So instead of reducing a huge portion of his damage late game, just have Hyper Charge only do increased damage in Hammer Stance. Meaning that a more bruisy Jayce would benefit more than his glass cannon counterpart, whom would be destroyed as soon as he jumped on his target for reasons other than finishing them off.

If we could not buff Jayce, that'd be fantastic.

The last thing we need is a return to the dual-form-ranged-bruiser top lane dominance. Jayce is, thankfully, not popular. But he dumps on a fair number of meta top picks atm.

Well, I've saw bruiser Jayce once or twice, people build him glass cannon even without lifesteal: full dmg and crit (IE)... Buffing his dmg would be mistake.

Jayce is obnoxious, he doesn't deserve any without being nerfed at the same time

Don't know him too well, seems like an ok idea on paper though.

Really just commenting to help xD.
