And man. I totally forgot how fun he is. I hate playing gnar but i wanted a ranged tanky/bruiser champ other than playing graves with cleaver.

And boy. Do i love urgots kit.

They want to rework him to give him a stronger identity.

I wanted to not only get any tips and such, but opinions on urgot about what you like and dislike about him.

Pretty much i only dislike that his W scales off mana. His mana costs are perfectly fine although i still buy a sheen item.

I do like his ult quite a lot and have used it quite effectively once i got the hang of it. However, i feel his follow up after the ult is too weak since his E is the only AoE ability and while he builds bruiser-like, his W shield just doesnt help enough since it scales off mana while the slow on it is good

Basically, i like how his passive, E and his W augment his Q and his AA (in regards to W) and maybe that should be something they focus on? A ranged tank bully/bruiser who augments his Q and AAs?

His w didn't always scale off mana, that was basically a straight buff to him once upon a time. Urgot generally was building muramana (and/or frozen heart if I recall) so he wasn't so gated in his ability usage, so when they added mana scaling to his w I don't think it really changed his build much, it just made him very slightly more viable. (It also scales with AP, but I don't know who is building AP on him.)

He's very weird and doesn't really fit in well anywhere. I'm a support main so I had most success with him as support and I feel like theres a lot of under appreciated support-y things his kit does, but at the same time he kinda wants an income beyond that of a support.

I think he, like many ad champs right now, would probably be effective going full lethality. Combined with his e's armour shred, his q's would rapidly get into true damage territory and provide a lot of relatively spammable harass (that also slow when combined with his w). But then his ult is just kind of there, since he probably doesn't want to be in the fray if he's being a ranged harass monster, so it's really hard to tie his whole kit together with a build.

Ive used his ult multiple times to pick off a squishier target as an engage. I ult a zyra, she dies immediately in a 4v1 meanwhile im tanky enough to survive the initial burst of a 4v1 on my side just to have my team follow up for a 5v4.

I remember doing old flat armor pen on him. Was quite abusive.

And ive tried to do him support just to have my teammate ban him. His Q outranges ADCs range, his E+Q is even better. His W + Q is a constant slow. His E shreds armor. His passive and armor shred combined with exhaust just sounds like a cancerous thing. And his ult makes flash pointless.

And while he doesnt have a true identity, i absolutely hate playing gnar and find urgot as my perfect tanky ranged top laner. For now until his rework

I find you don't need summoner 3 . 99% of the time I take summoner 6 . This one let's you escape ganks without burning flash. You can catch up to squishies and ult, get to team fights faster if you are away, catch lane opponents off their guard (say they didn't ward and you come from river when returning to lane).

Your kit is one big exhaust. Urgot lacks mobility and ghost makes up for this.

oh, that part of the comment was geared towards support urgot theories

I do remember them discussing a while back about possibly making him manaless and that he uses "fear" as a resource.

Would be interesting

If they go with the weapons platform idea then mana should stay. If they go with a disrupting "tank" then fear would make much sense.

I would have to agree with that. A weapon platform style would be neat/fun. But a fear based tank would be quite interesting

No one should build ap on Urgot but Baron gives Urgot a stronger shield for sure.

What is your difficulties with Gnar? I tend to find him an easy, predictable opponent.

im fine playing against gnar for the most part, i mean i dont like playing gnar. i dont find his kit fun for me mostly because of his rage bar.

I misread.
