Rune Rework, An Idea for Veterans: Let them Teach

There's been a lot of talk about the Rune Rework, or rather how the refund system is going to shaft older players. And Riot seems to agree, and are looking for ways to compensate (see @Riot Cactopus 's first few comments, https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/o1hsbxt5-the-real-reason-veteran-players-are-unhappy-with-the-rune-rework?comment=001b00040000)

But not many ideas seem to have come from that thread, so I'd like to propose something

Generally speaking, I feel no amount of cosmetics for my champion, my loading screen, my account, my whatever, will ever make me feel fully appreciated for the 3-4 years I have spent on this game.

So what I else can they do? I say they let us teach and judge.

For teaching, they could make a mentor program to connect veterans to newer players. I don't know about other vets, but I'm not as invested in this game anymore and I can't play it as much because of work and school. But there are plenty of new players enamored with the gameplay, the number of champions, and all the same stuff we were for years. So I vote that Riot let us act as their guide to the wonderful world of Runeterra and League of Legends. To the champions, the strategies, the down right cool stuff, and so much more. Another benefit of this is community. Riot's all about team play, and this would lend itself to that. More than that, it would ease the leveling process. Anyone new player or smurf knows that leveling is a toxic wasteland. Give older players a chance to show that there is good in the game, that toxic subset of people is not everyone, and act as a shield when it does happen. I've played for 3-4 years. I've seen it all and I can handle it.

Beyond that, I suggest restarting the Tribunal system, but only allowing older players to use it. Not only would this reward them, but there are several other benefits as well. First, if you attach BE to participation, they could still get a "full refund" while making the game better and helping Riot discipline toxicity. Further, I feel older players are better suited as judges. Again, I've seen it all; ragers, feeders, inters, people who just had a bad game. I've even done a few of these myselfs. But I've gone through it, and I know it's all there and I know I've been driven to it. Who better to judge than the person with experience of both sides, the good and the bad of the community?

As a more practical example, I merely present society. Who do we call upon to act as our moral compass and teachers? Our Elders. They're not always perfect, but they're usually pretty good.

**TL;DR In game compensation for Runes for veterans is never going to really satisfy us. Let us do something else, teaching and judging. **

Addendum If not an outright mentor program, I suggest letting us archive our knowledge, some how. Remember release Xin Zhao? Yeah, let us record that in some way. You could even add an LCS hall of fame type thing (not for veterans, but as an aside to help get the idea off the ground).
