A returning players thoughts on Dynamic Q

Let me start by saying that no I am not a Diamond player nor have I been playing since season 1. I am merely a mid-level silver player whos been around since Season 4 and I would just like to share how I feel regarding the new queue system. About a year ago I was trying to get very serious into LoL. I watched the LCS playoffs, live streams, practiced with the most common champs for the current meta and was hoping to make it to Gold or Plat. Sadly I am a support main, the reason I choose to play this role is due to the overwhelming amount of games I played where our support didn't know what a sightstone was or how to rotate to mid or carry the carry. So I decided to give it a shot and I feel that since I started doing that my win rate improved. I climbed out of S5 all the way to my promos for Gold. That series of matches was the reason I rage quit this game and didn't return until a few weeks ago. Solo Q was always filled with know it all ADCs or the off meta jungle picks who saw a LCS player do it once but above all it was filled with toxic players that will either rage like a 4 year old when they get spanked, when your lane gets spanked, when the enemy smite steals dragon/baron or when your team loses their first team fight. I dealt with someone like that in at least 1 of every 3 games but it wasn't until my promos that I really got pissed at it. No joke, first game in my promos we get in lobby "mid or feed". Of course he was last in line to pick and someone above him said "im blah blah main, I will carry as mid". This led to the mid or feed guy locking teemo and going silent. I couldn't dodge because, well, promos. So we get in game and sure enough teemo just runs down mid until hes fed 5 kills, then runs down bot doing the same thing. Game 2, someone locks in Fizz jungle and my ADC didn't agree with his pick because he felt we needed a tanky jungle. Flaming commences between those 2 until the game starts. Bot lane gets ganked by enemy jungle at 10 mins, then we get ganked again not 5 minutes later. ADC proceeds to /all "AFK because our jungle is noob scrub who refuses to gank bot lane" mind you that fizz was like 4--0 or something and doing well. After the ADC left we lost pretty quick since we couldnt push towers or kill their tanks. I take a break for a day and come back hoping for a 3 game win streak to Gold. First game of day goes well and we win, 2nd game not so much but we still pulled a win. Thats when it happened.... I met the most toxic af top lane darius I've ever seen. Hes up against a Quinn top and gets killed 5 minutes in. Quinn taunts him in chat and just made the tilt even worse. Jungle goes for a gank on top and Darius backs off while at nearly full HP leaving lee sin to solo fight a more fed Quinn. After lee got rekt Darius then turns his anger on us and starts flaming everyone on the team. Our mid who was losing lane because he kept getting ganked finally had enough of the shit talk and went AFK. After he went AFK the Darius went AFK... then finally our jungle was like "well GG" and he went AFK.... meanwhile in bot lane I had fed my vayne 6 kills and completely crushed the enemy duo... yet it was now a 2v5... GG promos, GG LoL.

My point behind that wall of text is to comment on the "Ranked Integrity" people keep bringing up when defending Solo Q. Short of being a Diamond or higher level player nothing could have been done to really turn those 3 games I just mentioned around. So in essence my "skill" was being determined by a bunch of random toxic players who didn't give a shit about the other people on their team. Honestly solo Q was more about the lucky draw of getting calm, rational teammates than a hypercarry kat mid. I can't count how many countless games were lost due to people saying "top or feed" or flipping out over the leaders ban picks. This new Q really does improve the quality of gameplay for people like me. I have seen much less raging and toxic comments from players lately. I got placed bronze 5 this season when I qualified 2 days ago and I've already climbed to my S3 promos. I still play as a solo player in this queue but unlike what many others are saying I haven't run into any premades that just stomp the other team of solo Q players. Maybe this is because I'm not in the higher tiers but if I was in a higher ELO I would expect those people can work together better and have proper team comps to counter premades when they do run into them.

Long story short this new Q eliminates people fighting for roles, leaders doing selfish bans, seems to have improved peoples attitude in ranked since if you meet cool people who do great you can literally friend them and join their premade, and it has given me a reason to attempt the grind again. It takes a team to win the game, individual skill will only get you so far in the ladder and one of the biggest crushers to peoples skill was toxic players. A toxic player can literally ruin your whole day if you truly care about your rank, being toxic is also very contagious as I myself have been guilty of it at times. I think this was a great step by riot to improve the spirit of ranked play and encourage more people to go competitive.

If you don't agree with me that is certainly your right but please don't discredit the opinions I have given here.

Team builder is not Dynamic Que. Team builder is a great feature that settles pregame spot wrangling. Dynamic queue is what allows players to group. Its what makes premades possible.

Most people are perfectly content with the team builder aspect that was implemented when DQ was. (With the minor exception that if you choose support in either spot you get it, 90% of the time, and fill at one point meant support).

Team Builder does address a lot of toxicity issues. However, DQ introduces a few. Not every premade is bad. But the ones that are, are very very bad. Currently there is no system for dealing with bad premades. You can report them as individuals... but that doesn't seem to do much good.

It's not even that. You're queuing solo which means even if they have a premade of five, you're almost assuredly rolling with a premade of four on your team. Matchmaking means if you queue solo and get a four-man premade in your party, your enemy team most likely has... a 4+1 team like you. Or if you have two solos, both teams might still have the same 3+1+1.

The problem with soloQ is what I call "carry syndrome". Everyone wants to carry. Kat wants to carry. Teemo wants to carry. Support is tired of being overlooked and now the SUPPORT wants to carry. If you can carry... that's fine. You can put that to use in dQ... but dQ also can punish carry syndrome in a way.

My friend has this carry syndrome, where if he's not the carry, he feels useless and gets mad. I've seen this mindset firsthand. But then there's these games where if you don't GIVE a kill, you can screw yourself over. I mean... would you want a single player with 30 kills, or 5 players with 6 kills? That one fed player will just get focused no matter how OP they are. dQ both makes sure you have a coordinated team that can properly focus these carry-syndrome hypercarries while removing the toxicity of the hypercarries themselves, forcing them to actually be a damn team player for once in their lives. Except for maybe the Kog or Twitch players that can still work if they're the center of even an underfed team's world in teamfights.

Will dQ hurt League? Maybe. In the short. Will it make League better in the long run by making carry syndrome a much more unhealthy mindset? I hope so. Am I sad that this OP and my post will get downvoted just because of differing opinions, despite positing valid complaints about toxicity/lack of team play in sQ? That's for damn sure.

Season 4, the last good one, haha.

Yes, this is the fair system where you get punished all the time if your team doesn't do well. I've had one or two AFK's in my games, and people just act like "well if you're good enough you can carry" but that's not exactly true. Mathematically speaking, it is nearly impossible for three people to defeat five if the five are good and the three are good due to the advantage. If the five aren't so good, that's a different story but the numbers can still mount up late-game, if there is one.

It is because of things like that I decided to stick to playing normal for fun and not bother with ranked. Even in normal games, its still the same old crap and you get punished for your teammates deciding to be feeders or trolls.

The only difference you are describing is new champ select and not dynamic queue. Yes we all agree that new champ select is working pretty well and has brought down toxicity and gotten rid of "mid or feed" types of situations. However, that has nothing to do with letting 2-5 people group together and have their rank put on the same ladder as solo players. And that is what everyone is bitching about.

Even in new dynamic queue you will get trolls, feeders, whatever else. But now you have premades being ranked on the same ladder as solo players, therefore getting rid of ranked integrity.
