Permanently add Black Market Game Type

What would Black Market games allow?

  • It would allow for Riot Games extensive item testing from PBE.
  • It would allow for countless items to be played with.
  • Those items marginally balanced but unacceptable for normal and ranked games.
  • (Players must always be notified that Black Market items may never stay in-game permanently)
  • So many unsanctioned items where this game type may be chaotic. That's part of the idea: marginal chaos! :D

How would they introduce it?

Straight after Bilgewater: Burning Tides event; after August 10th. The merchants in each Bootleg game will be shady-looking, Bilgewater-themed characters.

This is a Game Type (not Game Mode): Black Market Game Type

  • Click Play
  • Classic > Summoner's Rift 5v5 > Bootleg (Blind Pick)
  • Classic > Twisted Treeline 3v3 > Bootleg (Blind Pick)
  • Dominion > The Crystal Scar 5v5 > Bootleg (Blind Pick)
  • ARAM > Butcher's Bridge 5v5 > Bootleg (All Random)

The term Bootleg, doesn't really fit, as it refers usually to a counterfeit. Really the black market should give the idea that someone is bringing illegal items not approved by the institute. (Just in case you don't like the whole part about it being retconed)

I wouldn't say it should be a permanent game feature, but something that should be available more often than a normal featured game type. (Like whenever they have new items to test.)

Nice. Yeah. Like every two weeks as a recurring event .. or something. :) What would this achieve?

  • An alternative inconsistent game type from the consistent regulars.
  • An opportunity to try something that may decidedly be placed into normals game. [Dead Man's Plate]
  • Potentially peak your enjoyment with the 'unsanctioned items' and unusual plays.
