AD SONA, the Story and the Wall of Text and what I want to do with her

The story of AD Sona When she released, Sona's Q passively boosted her (and allies) ap and attack damage. This was in an era where ADC's were far more similar than they are today. Have a ranged autoattack? Build IE and stuff and BOOM, now you are an ADC. Sona's AD boost + the appropriate runes/masteries/gear allowed her to do competitive damage with autoattacks. Her Power Chord scaling with level meant that a solo lane sona could farm up a trinity force, be multiple levels higher than bot lane (and due to sustain, possibly higher than other solos), and then nuke people for like 90% of their health in one Q+powerchord. Statwise it was legit, and many games reflected it. Although I only ever saw maybe 2 others play solo ad sona ever. Eventually her abilities got changed. She gained specific visible auras and way more ap ratios and seemed to lean more toward lichbane and ap to do the big nukes from a solo sona. And now we are at the present. I've tried the new sona as ADC, as AP mid, and as AD mid, and as AD top and as AP top. Solo is best because level is important to her. Both AD and AP solo sona's can (even if not fed beyond anyone else) go to bot lane and oneshot or nearly oneshot the enemy adc upon completing the respective core damage item. Due to the new ap ratios, ap sona also has a faster movespeed buff and better heal/shield and basically all of her abilities are slightly better. Altho the ap scaling is mediocre. But I think I still prefer AD sona that goes Trinity, and then IE/essence/rapidfire/etc because it can, in the long run, hit harder. Ad sona is also more of a threat between uses of Q because she has powerful autoattacks. If I play it alot (combined with my inherent skill level), I feel that it is competitive enough to get to about gold2, maybe low plat (my highest rank was medium/low diamond).

So yeah, that is the technical and story side of AD sona.

During season one, ad sona mid was one of my two mains. I created a video compilation with awesome music featuring tons of ad sona and it was received nicely. Recently someone brought the topic up again and I would like to make another fun video. BUT IT IS REALLY SCARY TO DO IT NOW THAT TRIBUNAL EXISTS. I mostly stopped playing her because I got banned after tribunal released and a riot response explained that it was largely because of my champion/role/gear choice (which I had thought unpunishable*). So playing more ad sona now is very scary. If a game goes amazingly, nothing much happens. But if I lose lane, even if I would have lost it as another champion, I can easily get 1 to 9 reports. So the more I play her, the more reports I will have. I used to respond to harassment with a vicious verbal defense (which is what I initially thought resulted in my sona related ban), but for the last multiple years my behavior has been immaculate. Absolutely no rage and no hostile responses even to extreme harassment. I am hoping my perfect behavior can offset the amount of reports I receive and result in no ban.

*To check how tribunal was going after its release and show that all bans were needed, riot created a forum post in which people could ask why they were banned. Ad sona was pretty much the only trolly thing I played way back then, and whenever anyone became aggressive toward me I would simply state that 'This isn't something I can be banned for'. In response to my query, the rioter said my quote and basically said 'yes, I could be banned for it' (without stating in the thread what 'it' was. So apparently it wasn't the 'fighting back verbally' I used to do back in the day that caused the ban, it was actually the playing of a very offmeta thing. Keep in mind, this is shortly after tribunal released, and perhaps bans are handled differently now. That is what I am hoping for.

SO YEAH NOW THAT THAT IS ALL OUT THERE, the playing more ad sona is an idea I'm still tossing around. Not sure yet if I am brave enough to accumulate that many reports. I asked a while ago and it SEEMS that people don't get banned for offmeta picks anymore, but... Yeah. it is still scary. I've had my account since season 1 and I like it. I don't want it to get banned. Any ideas about how I could safely go about doing this would be appreciated. I assume most people wont read the wall of text. That is ok. I think the type of person who does read it is the type of person I want giving me input anyway (if anyone does). And at least I can point to this if I do get banned and since my behavior is otherwise perfect, we will know for sure if riot bans for not following the meta.

play normals till you're good, as long as you keep trying and don't give up you won't get reported, if you need a sup, i'm here for you :) Sona is my Favorite champion. i think the has the ability to be the most versatile that and i know how to play supports other than her if you want to try her as an AD.

Oh yes, the gem that my friend and I have been trying to pull off in normals.

The Kindred-level god-tier sustain will always be hilariously amazing.
